BTHome Hub 3/Sure Signal version 2

jaypeecee
4: Newbie

I am utterly fed up with problems with my Sure Signal setup. Although I am using a SS version 2 with a BT Home Hub 3, I have no reason whatsoever to suspect my current problems are in any way related to the BT Home Hub 3. My WiFi connection is superfast (Infinity Option 1) and very reliable - I monitor my connection continuously using Net Uptime Monitor, which runs on one of my PCs 24/7.

Right now and for the last few hours, the SS version 2 has the red power LED on, the system LED flashing and the phone LED off. I have tried the reset procedure three times this evening - all to no avail. I cannot use the Vodafone network at present. What good is that? I can neither make nor receive phone calls or use mobile data, although the latter is less important.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to do other than chuck the Sure Signal in the nearest bin?

JPC,

Having the same problem, with the same hardware, started this morning. Not in the Horsham area are you?

NE

Same issue here but with a HH5 v2

Other posts in here tend to suggest the issue is not BT related.

Hi NE,

Thanks for your reply.

I am not in the Horsham area. I live in Bracknell, Berkshire. My Vodafone signal indoors right now (in the absence of the SS booster) is an unusable -111dBm. If you are not familiar with this way of expressing signal strength, take it from me that this is very poor. But, to add insult to injury, Vodafone have a network coverage in real time facility on their website. I would provide the link here but it is not possible on my Android tablet. It is saying that all is well for my postcode. Total nonsense.

I'm in the Manchester area and have had an identical problem since this morning. Have reset my Sure Signal 3 times but just gets to power light on, system light flashing and waits there for hours. There appears to be lots of ethernet activity.

Guessing by some of the other recent posts on here it looks like a problem at Vodafone's end.

What a pathetic service Vodafone provides. Looks like the problem has been going on nationwide all day. Why don't they tell their customers on the Vodafone website instead of leaving us in the dark? It ought to be there in flashing neon lights. Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) have an excellent app called Power Track, which lets their customers know if there are any power cuts in their area. Vodafone could learn from SSE. And Vodafone have the audacity to charge £100 for the latest SS!

Crazy, eh!

JPC

A number of people seem to be affected since this morning, including me.

Would be good if the tech teams could join up and give us some information even if it is along the lines of there is a known fault affecting a number of users in a number of areas. we are working on a fix and will update progress on the forum ....

Save us all a lot of time and effort.

:smileymad:

Just in case it isn't a Vodafone outage as Rover suggests (though I suspect he is right), here are my diagnostics for the same problem:

@KrisKlayton, Yes, all the links can be used on a Mac but you will need to run terminal and type traceroute 212.183.133.177 for the final diagnostics

DuncanMcG - I have merged all your posts into one thread in order to prevent duplication of information.  Please could you refrain from posting across multiple threads as it only makes it more difficult to respond to your query and slows down the response time for yourself and others.

PWIAC

@drey_p not sure why you have merged my responses to multiple threads onto this thread? They make no sense in the context of this thread as I was posting in response to other users.

My diagnostics are also now on a thread other than the one where they were requested.

I would appreciate it if you could move them back to the threads where they were originally posted.

Thanks
