Yes we have 2 vodafone sim only plans; i have an iphone 4 and my wife has a Google Nexus One. She's currently away and her phone hasn't been tested on the SS yet but when she returns home this weekend, i'll definitely see if the problem exists on her handset...at least this will tell us if the problem is at my end or at vodafone's end. If she doesn't experience the same issue, i assume that means my iphone 4 is faulty? It was purchased sim-free from Apple UK directly approx 8 months ago so obviously still in warranty. In your opinion do you think Apple would repair or replace my iphone 4?
In the meantime do you think its worthwhile just popping into my local Vodafone store and getting the micro-sim exchanged for a new one?

Thanks for your feedback Ktsangy. Do you have wifi switched on or off? I've noticed that if i switch off wifi on my iphone 4 16gb , then i get far fewer failed calls...around 1 in 10. But with both 3G and wifi enabled its around 1 in 3 ![]()
Looks like this is a SureSignal problem because if there was a fault with the 3G chip inside the iphone 4 16gb, then this would affect every call made over 3G, not just those via a SureSignal. Come on Vodafone, sort this out!

I normally have my wi-fi switched on although there are times when it is switched off and the call failed issue still occurs. This is definately not a problem with the iphone 4 because this issue only occured last month sometime, before that I didn't have this issue.
Saying that though previously there was an issue with the Sure Signal box where people's first calls after resetting the Sure signal were garbled up. Dialling the same number again dials through fine.
I'm guessing it's not an isolated incident and is happening to a lot of users it's just that we're the only ones taking time to report this, here's another couple of people with the same issues:

The serial number of my unit is 40111113003. Why don't Vodafone allow users to see the firmware version on the SS box and if necessary allow them to upgrade or downgrade the firmware? I'm sure you'll agree in cases like these it would be easier to pinpoint the issue and make your job easier.

It’s something we have visibility on our end via our admin tool. To be honest allowing customer’s access to this would in my view cause more problems than actually resolve. We have some very switched on users on this forum who know allot about networking however we also have a few people who aren’t as knowledgeable in this regard. I don’t mean to offend anyone at all but my experience the more buttons people have to choose the more potential for things to really break.

Fair enough, i totally understand what you're saying re: firmware. But it would at least be useful for the user just to see what firmware their unit is running without actually changing anything. Perhaps it also would be nice to see a log/activity file of the SS so that in cases like these you could ask the user to send you these, you could then pinpoint the problem more easily![]()
Anyway i've just tested my wife's Google Nexus One phone and that doesn't get the 'failed call' error so this appears to be an issue which is affecting iphone 4 users only.
Hope you can resolve this quickly!

My SS box was replaced yesterday and i'm still getting this problem. The serial no. of the new unit is 40111063430. Any idea when this will be fixed? Perhaps when iphone 10 is released? In the meantime perhaps it would be a good idea if Vodafone rolled back the firmware to the previous version on the affected units.

First call always fails, subsequent redial always successful.

My SS unit rebooted by itself this afternoon (nothing wrong with internet or router) and then was working again after about 45 mins. I also received an SMS saying that the location of my unit has changed, please update your address...even though i changed nothing. Just wondering if Vodafone have made changes to my SS unit to resolve the failed calls error? Serial # of SS is 40111063430

I also have this problem with my iphone4. First attempt at a call fails and seubsequent redial is fine. Happens as regular as a regular thing on a regular day
Thought this was as a result of broader SS connectivity problems.
