I have been following this thread too and have just registered today again in the hope that numbers will get this sorted. 

 

Both me and my wife have iPhone 4's and are both having this issue of call failed when in our house only.  Once the initial call fails the second usually goes through.  In addition my brother in law has the exact same problem although his seemed much worse than mine in that it would not connect on second or even third attempts and sometimes took ten or more.  Basically un-usable in his home.  I have just upgraded his iPhone firmware to the latest version 4.3.5 at the weekend so we will see if that improves his to merely the majority here of first call out fail.

 

I will get him and my wife to register and complain as well to add a couple more to the mix.

 

This is clearly a VSS with iPhone issue as there are no such problems for me anyway outside of my house....

 

Here's hoping for some fix.

Hi smizza

I've just resync'd your Sure Signal for you,  if you can perform a factory reset, you should be up and running.

 

To factory reset the Sure Signal box:
 

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds) keeping the reset button held down.
  • Remove then re-insert the power lead.
  •  Once all lights display release the reset button. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Just wanted to add that we have had VSS/iPhone problems for about 8/9 months as well.

 

Initially the problem was only that inbound calls and SMS messages intermittently would not come through on the iPhone when connected to VSS. This was only a problem with the iPhone 4 and not other other handsets (such as HTC/Nokia). This is still an issue today and many people might be having this but they just don't realise it as when other people call them they will just go straight through to voicemail.

 

The Call Failed issue was not present at the beginning and has maybe been around for the past 4 months. It is a huge problem but again only for the iPhone 4 and not other devices connected to the VSS.

 

My wife is absolutely hating her iPhone because of this issue... takes 4/5 attempts on a regaular basis to make a call and when I call her during the day her phone will go straight to voicemail even through she is at home right next to the SureSignal box so I end up calling the home phone :smileysad:

 

The VSS is registered with the iPhone 4 account but is there a way to de-register the iPhone 4 on the VSS so that the other handsets can continue to use the VSS? I don't want to disable 3G as then you have to manually turn it on when you are out and about.

I'm also seeing issues with iPhone 4 and SureSignal. In my case, after a while, all incoming calls go to voicemail. This is repeatable until I make an outgoing call (which works). Next incoming call succeeds. This is with a full five-bar signal on the iPhone.  Sometimes, the first incoming call rings but is disconnected when I answer.

 

I've had these problems for months, and there is no prospect of a solution. I don't actually believe that anyone is investigating the problem. It would be quite easy to trace the situation since once it starts happening, it's repeatable until I make an outgoing call. If you actually had software engineers working on this, we could easily debug it.

Yes I see exactly the same.  Can't receive inbound calls until I make an outbound call then inbound calls will come through. Also if people have sent you a txt msg in that time you will see a rush of messages come through as well when you make that initial outbound call.

 

As a temporary solution I am going to get the iPhone removed from VSS and live with normal cell tower signal. However problem is that the VSS will need to be changed to a different account as it is currently owned by the iPhone number!

I've started getting this "Call Failed" error regularly during the last few days, with my BB Torch and SS Box!!!

 

As I work entirely from home and rely on the system for business calls, this is  worrying...and not helped by finding this thread from nearly a year ago!

 

Come on, Vodafone, look after your customers (and as a shareholder....I don't want to have to email your CEO yet again!).

Are you still so sure about that, or was it a response laced with sarcasm?

 

I'm assuming the latter, because it's now clear that my earlier fears may well be confirmed. 

 

The owner of the problem has been in here recently and completely ignored most of the comments. We've heard nothing from anyone about this for weeks, despite being told that the issue has been tracked down and a solution was being worked on.

 

Smoke and MIrrors. Vodafone have a habot of doing this. I've been here before.

Hi there,

 

I am another ss and iPhone user that has been going nuts with all the failed calls. I have now switched off my ss and that seems to have cured the problem but unfortunately I dont get much of a signal in the house! I am on my 3rd iphone and second ss because amazingly the tech people at vodafone dont seem to know what the problem is. i have been reading throught this post and it seems that there is no real ownership been taken of this issue. If any of the moderators disagree then I am sure we would all like to know what the SLA is for the fix on this issue?

 

my wife has a HTC and the kids have Niokia and they dont have this issue so it is obviously an iPhone problem

hello BB user here and long time SS user-- Ive had 78 failed called over the last 2 days... and about 200+ over the last week.

 

Gettign annoyed calling CS to be told to reset. I reset it works for a call or 2 then im back at Called failed.

 

Any help VF?

After 6 months with VF, I'm just awaiting the end of my business contract so that I can go back to 02.
My experience is that VF is such a big organisation that everyone can hide in their own little office, and ignore anything which doesn't fit their tick-list or phone script. Even complaints to the CEO just get a standard company-speak fob-you-off reply. No pride or interest in their job, their company or their customers.
Come on 02, Orange, etc., the market is open for you!

I have not been able to make a single outbound call today whilst connected to the SS!

 

In before we hear the words "Sorry we do not have any more information at this time but as soon as we do we will pass it on" oh and also "we know how frustrated you are etc etc". *yawn*

 

Vodafone pull your finger out....get this call escalated and sort this issue out which has been going on forever! You already told us that you have identified the problem so how difficult is it to implement a fix?? There is not even a workaround solution provided. You have sold us a product that is not fit for purpose and is nothing more than a paperweight at the moment.

Since Tuesday 23rd August I've had sporadic problems with making outbound calls via sure signal - have to dial several times before call connects (just custs off the other times, never rings)

 

I'm also missing critical calls and have several times been suprised to find a voicemail and the phone has not rung - so it's not simply an outbound issue with Sure Signal - it's inbound too.

 

This simply is not good enough - either acknowledge and offer assistance (Customer services offers the reboot, power down, reset etc etc etc which has already been tried etc etc etc).

 

If this continues much longer (and the reason for a Sure Signal was dire reception without it..) I shall be asking to terminate my contract with no penalty as Vodafone are not providing a valid service.

I got a free Sure Signal with my phone upgrade and received it yesterday. It doesn't work: I'm getting the call failed errors on outbound calls and hardly ever receiving an inbound call - callers just get put to through to voicemail straight away. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps on this forum, except contacting customer services, which I'm going to do now.

 

Unless this is fixed I, too, will be returning the Sure Signal and the new phone and cancelling my contract.

So the problem isn't specific to iPhones.

 

Stockportmatt  are you getting this problem using your HTC?

 

All we can do,seemingly is wait - surely whoever took ownership of this problem must be getting copied in on every comment made on the thread,but chooses not to keep us informed of progress on a solution.

 

Are 'they' actually working on one? I doubt it.

 

I've just been looking at their webpage advertising the sure signal,I think the guy in the picture has a sure signal installed & is having the same problems as we're all having:

Already done. I've referenced this thread and the comments from some of the staff, in particular the so-called 'ownership' of the problem.

Another dissatisfied customer, Same thing here,very varied connection via suresignal,usually no out going calls or straight to voicemail on incomming calls. SS has been working fine for 12mths and now this. No wonder work is quite at the moment..have tried un reg and re reg but to no avail. This also affects the missus's phone too and 'oh' she aint a happy bunny. VF get this fixed now or you will have 2 fewer customers very,very soon!!!!!!!
