Solution

Cannot Make Sure Signal V1 Reset

I have a Vodafone Sure Signal V1 which stopped working about 2 weeks ago. Prior to that it had been working correctly for many years.

I am wondering whether the device has failed. As soon as you switch the device on all the lights on the device come on and are solid green. The green and orange lights on the back of the device on the network port also come on and stay on even if no network cable is plugged in.

I have attempted to reset the device following the procedure you have listed on these forums. This is holding the rest button down for 30 seconds until all the lights light up and then unplugging and replugging the device whilst holding down the button. However, holding down the reset button appears to have no effect and the device does not reset. As soon as you replug the device all the lights come back on in the same way as before - all the lights are lit.

Is there another way to reset this device or has the device completely failed?

Many thanks for any help

Hi suncss,

Your IP address is fine.

The Sure Signal hasn't connected to the servers since 20 August.

You're following the correct procedure to reset the Sure Signal.

Please can you try it at a different location, with a different ISP?

Thanks,

Ian

Hello,

Thanks for your help.

I have asked somebody to bring it back and I will plug it into a different internet connection with different ISP to see if it makes a difference.

Have you seen the particular combination of lights described in post 1 before? Does this indicate anything? The lights have never behaved in this manner before this device stopped working.

I have now plugged it into a different internet connection. It is showing the same light combination. There are no lights flashing on the router it is plugged into to indicate there is any network traffic.

The first time I tried to reset it after plugging it into the other line, it did appear to respond briefly. Only the power light was lit. Now all the lights are lit up on it again.

What else can I try or do I need a new device?

Just in case somebody else has a similar problem I have managed to fix this by replacing the power supply. The problem was all the lights were lit, including the network port lights and the device would not reset or connect correctly.

I replaced the power supply with a compatible model. For my Sure Signal V1 it was a 12V 1.5A power supply and the device then booted up with the correct light sequence.
