Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Mine arrived this afternoon, well two arrived actually but hey I reckon I'll need a spare.

Registered it and set it off doing it's synchronising.  It soon indicated it had picked up the broadband, then sent me a message to my phone saying it was all working, yet the box was still setting up.  It evenually settled down and my phones report having a 3G signal.

However......the call light is permanently on whenever my Galaxy S is on.  Even if I'm not doing anything with the phone the call light is on.  Turn the phone off and it goes out.  This I can cope with.

Unfortunately I'm having a few issues with the internet on my phone.  It's appears to constantly lose communication.  For example if I navigate to an internet page it will instantly report a lost connection, refresh and it appears instantly.  If I view an email with pictures the pictures are not displayed even though the page has loaded.  Hit refresh and bang they all appear.  I never experienced this with the old sure signal and I am absolutely certain that the data lactivity ight only came on during phone calls and not just because the phone was on - is this normal?

So it's progress in some sort of way.  What is for certain is that this morning with my old box I had no 3G, this afternoon with the new one I have 3G.  What is interesting is why so many people appear to have had a failure of their SS at the same time?

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Well all yesterday things where fine and then this morning i had lost 3g signal again, and had to switch back to manual network selection and restart the suresignal to get a 3g signal.
This is strange why yesterday it worked great on automatic network selection then as previously it only works on manual selection.

Any help would be apprciated as this has got me baffled now!
Kind Regards

Re: Sure Signal.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your posts.

@ groodles - To be fair to you, if the device is giving you the same results on a number of routers than one has to assume it is faulty. One final check and if this doesn't resolve it then we'll have a look at a replacement; is the network mode enable for dual, 2G only or 3G only on your device? If it's anything other then 3G/WCDMA only then could you try changing it for me?

I've also sent you a PM which can be accessed here in the eventuality that this still doesn't resolve. If you could follow the instructions in the PM and send us your details one of the team will be with you as soon as they can.

@ lindsayejh - Please could you let me know the VSS serial number?

@ Ukmarchants - I've also sent you a PM. Please click here to access your messages and please follow the instructions.

@ Middy2000 - Glad to see you're all ok again :smileywink: I expect your Galaxy S is constantly connecting to the network which is why the light is constantly on. Tell me; is WiFi enabled on your phone?

@ Digicom - Thanks for the update. The same questions that I have posed to @groodles - Is your phone on dual network mode?

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Sure Signal.

What a difference a day makes - theres a song in there!
Anyway 24hrs on & all is well. I no longer have a permanent activity light on, once relevant apis are closed the light goes out. I'm also not losing the connection so whatever that issue was it was only temporary.

Lee - Wifi was off at the time of probs, its never actually on other than when I lost 3g.

Re: Sure Signal.

Hi cc01

Can you take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread, and then post back your results if you’re not directed to an existing thread?

Thanks

Matt

Re: Sure Signal.

Hi matt. Yep followed the guide for signal but no 3G. These are phones that work fine where a Vodafone signal can be gained. So it's not the phones. I registered my number when I registered the sure signal and my partners is there under additional users. Thanks

Re: Sure Signal.

Sorry just realised this wasn't a very clear answer.
My sure signal indicates that power is there and that it is connected to the Internet. I have received a confirmation email that the sure signal has been registered. When I log in a see my partners phone details as a user. I provided mine when I registered however I cannot see me as a specific user. If I try to add myself then i get an error message that says my number is already registered. However neither my phone nor my partners is able to register a signal. Both phones work elsewhere where a traditional signal can be got.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

I posted a few weeks ago that my phones would only connect intermitently. The position seemed to sort itself out for a day or two but I am now back in the position where the phones rarely connect and when they do it only seems to be for an hour or so before the connection is lost. To summarise my position SS lights are correct, ping test broadband speed tracert were all OK. Phones set to 3G. I purchased a new SS because one that had worked perfectly for two years stopped working with exactly the same symptoms as the new one now displays.

The mobile signal in my house without the ss is close to zero so I am keen to resolve this. Any ideas? Could the new SS alsso be faulty?

Thanks for any advice.

Regards

Robert

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

@ Robert128
I also had my ss replaced and have excatly same issues as yourself where it worked fine for short period then the problem started again, so i very much doubt that the replacement units are faulty.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

@ Dave Thanks for your reply.

Serial Number: 40121417683.

Status: Active.

I would like to point out that i have posted about in this thread for last 2 weeks regarding this same issue to which the forum staff carrired out there tests and it then looked like the suresignal unit was faulty andt a replacent unit was sent out to me which i recieved a few days ago which worked fine for a few hours before the same issue re appeared again.

Kind Regards

Digi :smileywink:

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Hi

VSS serial number: 21228227811

I've been using the VSS above for 18 months or more now, with 3 registered users. It's been replaced under warranty a couple of times, but generally works well. We got a new BlackBerry Curve 9360 today for my daughter, moving her onto Vodafone so she could use the VSS as well. I've added the new number to the list, and received a text on the phone confirming it has been added. However, when the phone is switched on, it connects to the VSS and gets full signal strength (3G) for 10 - 20 seconds, before switching to SOS mode. I've been through the troubleshooting options at the top of the thread, with the exception of testing the new SIM in a different phone (I have an iPhone 4, so it won't fit). I've powercycled the phone and the VSS.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave.
