Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Actually both are getting a signal intermittently but never at the same time.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Count me in as another person who is no loger connecting to what appears to be a correctly working SS.   I have tried a couple of registered phones and neither of them will connect to a 3G signal from the SS device.

I am very loathe to do a hard reset because last time I was told to do this it was goodnight Vienna to my SS device for the best part of 3 weeks.

As others have said this has the aroma of another Vodafone cover up, getting people to do all sorts of things at the user end.   Perhaps the RBS fiasco has them worried about admitting they have a problem somewhere at their end.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

@ Dave
I still having same issue where as when the network on handset is set to auto it only stays locked to SS for around 1hr only.
But when network is set to manual it stays locked to SS for around 3hrs only.
And yes the handset is set for dual network mode.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

I now have this issue. After having the "power ligh only" error and then doing a couple of resets it workd OK for a few days but now today my phone would not connect despite the correct lights being on. I did another reset and when the lights came back up my phone would not reconnect (just seeing a very weak signal from the neartest mast). Tried rebooting the phone but no change.

Serial number: 40114610856 (yes, this IS correct even if it comes up as invalid at you end)

I don't believe it! Its working now. How on earth are we supposed to troubleshoot these issues when the service is so intermittent?

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

[ Edited ]

Hi Vodafone team, any update on my issue please. reminder of status.
(1) I have a power light on and a steady system light
(2) I have 2 phones registered. One iphone 3 and one Samsung Galaxy
(3) Since Friday I have only managed to get a sucessful "connection" to enable me to make a call from each phone once at around 4pm on Saturday

(4) I had left both phones swtiched on over the weekend and all this did was drain the battery on the iphone.

Thanks

I also have this problem as of this morning.  Considering how long it took Vodafone to sort out the signal problems in my town (I think it was 2-3 weeks) I will not be holding my breath!

Lights look fine, I have rebooted router, SS and restarted phone but no joy at all.  Router shows SS as connected so all is fine there, it just appears to be the SS refusing connections.

**Stop the press** I just changed my android phone to WCDMA only and it has connected to the SS.... strange but true.  I daren't change it back!

Over last 24hrs im constanly loosing the 3.5G signal and have to reboot the SS to regain a 3.5G signal.

Also still unable to have the network search on Auto as it will not connect to The SS at all i still have to select Manual search.
Kind Regards

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

I also tried setting my phone to WCDMA only but it made no difference in my case.

The normal GPRS signal was unusually good (1 or 2 bars out of 4) yesterday (normally no signal to 1 bar) but regardless my phone usually connects to my SS when it is working. Sometimes I do have to put it into flight mode and then back again for it to connect to the SS.

When my phone finally connected (some time after de-registering and re-registering the SS) it was set to auto, and so found the 3G signal on its own.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Hi,

it was working last week, went away for the weekend, and it isn't working now.

Followed the troubleshooting guide which says try this and if it doesn't work post here!

So here's the post.

My ss is showing the red light and the signal light but no 3g on either phone registered with it.

I've reset the ss, rebooted the phone, disconnected power and internet, reconnected, nothing!

Help!

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Oddly enough mine was working again when I got home from work this evening.    Absolutely nothing touched since it was not working yesterday.

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Yeah, its a bit annoying that this thread seems to be being ignored :-(

Mine started flashing its lights for no reason last night so I had no signal right before I went to bed. When I woke up it was connected again. So technically mine has been working since Sunday, but I don't understand why it has to keep dropping out every other day or so...

Re: Sure Signal - Correct Lights on but not Picking up 3G Signal

Hi guys,

I can promise you we're not ignoring anyone but we are a little stretched right now.

@ Digicom - Thanks for the confirmation that your device/s are/were connected using WCDMA only. My train of thought was that being in dual mode was affecting the connection. This has now been ruled out as the possible solution. I'm not sure on what to advise next so I'll raise this with our support teams.

It could be coincidence but the unit could just be faulty. I'm also conscious you've had a number of replacements so this would push me to a technical issue so I'll see what my colleagues say. I'll come back when I have more.

There are some users confirming they're back online and other reports of light sequences and the like. To be clear, this thread is for those that are seeing the correct light configuration but receiving no signal from the device.

@ Digsy - The serial number you provided here is still showing as invalid. I'm therefore concerned that we need to check on your VSS so I've sent you a PM which can be accessed here. If you could follow the instructions in the PM and send us your details one of the team will be with you as soon as they can.

@ bluerst - Thanks for your post. Could you let me know the serial number of your VSS please?

@ redsquirrel - I'm pleased to hear you're back online :smileywink:

Cheers,

Lee

The serial number is correct. If you had read my other posts you would see that I de-registered and re-registered my SS at the weekend and your website accepted the serial number without issue. I have attached a photograph of the label showing the serial number.

Since I re-registered my SS has worked apart from a blip last night when it went offline for no reason.
