Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

my router is a D-Link DSL-2640R

I have found the factory standard IP address but do not know what to do with it.  I have searched but can not find how to access the router or MAC.

I've tried rebooting etc.

Please help....

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi PedroLJ

Strange that its just stopped like that,  Have you seen our troubleshooting thread?  might be worth having a read through this.

Hi squib

I did respond back to your other post to let you know it wasnt related to our network outage.

The Sure Signal wouldnt affect anything in your DHCP table, if the entry has removed I would recomend looking into the router side of things more, it might be worth a factory reset and resetup to see if this resolves the missing entry problem. as the Router controls DHCP and  the Sure Signal box is just assigned from DHCP I would start to question the hardware.

Thanks

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi Ben

Yes, this is a new sure, straight out of the box.  It did not work so (Flashing top green light) I ran through the trouble shooting guide.  I have assigned the sure a static IP (thought the router was giving it one) as that seemed to be the thing to do.    I have also opened a number of ports.

I can not ping my sure.

traceroute gives

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi

Further to my last, when I say Pinging does not work, I mean just that, I get no response at all.  However if the sure box is unpluged I get

From 192.168.0.2 icmp_seq=9 Destination Host Unreachable

Which must mean something.

Thanks in advance

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi PedroLJ,

Thanks for getting back to us with this.

This is happening because the server does not accept pings. You will need to do PathPing to 212.183.133.181to be able to see the full path. If you can let us know the results of this, then w e will be able to investigate this further.

Hi

Unfortunatly I have not got the commend PathPing (Linux), and bing gives socket: Operation not permitted, cannot open ICMP module.

so all a have is the results of traceroute

Hi PedroLJ,

That's great - showing 100% to the very end.

Bad news is, it's ruled out what we can see from here without getting your details, so I've sent you an email to your registered address. Please can you reply back with the requested information and we'll be able to get this looked at in more depth for you.

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Please can someone help.

I am trying to set up my new SureSignal and am having problems.  I have a Hauwei EchoLife HG520b wireless router from TalkTalk and a Sagem SureSignal (S/No 21231979804).

I have plugged the ethernet cable into the router and have a green light on the back of my SureSignal (i also have an orange one flashing periodically).

I have been onto TalkTalk who advise me that the DHCP is automatically set up and so should be working.

I am reasonably technically minded but cant make this thing work.  All i have is the green power light slowly flashing.

Please can someone help me.

Thanks

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Please can someone help me. it has now been nearly 2 weeks since either of my sure signals haev worked. They have been work find for other 10 months.

I have two sure signals one on each of my two broadband lines and both were working find till the other week (last wednesday). I have tried resetting them, new ethernet cables swapped the boxes round on to each of the other lines. Bothmy broadband lines are working fine.

My serial numbers are 21223146396 and 21223135589. Both are connected to Draytek Vigor 2800V routers.

I rely on these sure signals to allow me to use our business mobiles at work. It is not getting extremely annoying.

I hope someone can help me resolve this issue.

Regards

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

2 weeks ago, SS box working fine (with the occasional hour/day off here and there)

1 week ago,  SS box had only lights 1 and 2 on

Now, after trawling through the trouble shooting page, various resets and reboots, Vodafone re-syncing the box at their end and then waiting for a few days, the SS box only has the one steady power light on.

This box has been replaced once for this problem already.

My other business box has worked intermitently for a few months while being replaced three times.

Here is the Pathping to 212.183.133.179 that the technician from Vodafone passed on.

Any help on what to do now would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi guys,

ALaCarte, are you still experiencing issues? When initially setting up a Sure Signal, it can sometimes stay on the flashing power light for up to 24 hours. If this is still an issue then I'd recommend following the Sure Signal setup guide for your router which can be found here.

MARTYL2000UK, it's a little strange that both of your Sure Signals have stopped working? Have you spoken with your ISP to check if there are any problems at their end that could be causing this? I'd also check the port forwarding for your router too, the guide can be found here.

SonicJuice, thanks for posting the pathping results. It appears that the pathping is failing before it even leaves your home network, as such I'd recommend contacting your ISP for further assistance.

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Hi, I have exactly the same router from Talk Talk.  When I received my SureSignal I plugged it in and followed the instructions.  Within 2 hours it was working fine and I had full signal on my mobile for the first time - brilliant!

Today my Sure Signal only has a steady green "on" light and all the other are off and I'm back to having no mobile signal :smileysad:

Worse than that, when the ethernet cable is plugged into my router I lose internet connection.  As soon as I unplug it or switch off the Sure Signal, my connection is back again.  I've also had a message pop up on my computer about an IP address - can't remember what it said but it hasn't appeared since I unplugged the Sure Signal.

Any suggestions?

If it's not going to work, can I return it?

Regards,

Susan

Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit
06-10-2010 02:36 PM

I am on Virgin Media and have a Netgear WNR2000 Router.. When I plugged in my VSS box, (after registering the VSS box!) all I was getting was the flashing power light.. so I read around the forum and did the following:

- On router LAN settings -> added a permanent reservation for the VSS box, noting the IP it had been assigned
- On port forward page -> opened ports 50 (tcp), 500 (udp) 4500 (udp) by adding a custom service for the IP the VSS was assigned

I then rebooted everything in the hope it would work - but no result.. still same power light flashing.

after some digging I stumbled on the "wan" setup page where I saw a "VPN passthrough" section.. By default the three options here are disabled: I had read somewhere that the VSS box establishes a VPN connection so decided to turn these options on. (IPSec, PPTP and L2TP)..

Gave it another reboot - and amazingly it started flashing in sequence!! 30 mins later.. the VSS box was fully functional.

So - my point I guess is, although with this particular router, the way to fix the issue was to enable the VPN settings to get it to work the problem was still masked as a IP address issue because only the power light was flashing. Ops, I hope you can use this info to help other people!!

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

Came back after 3 weeks away.  Had this problem and after much reading around the forum, also opened TCP port 8.  Reset and started up, working after 30 mins. Don't know why.

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

VSS Serial #: 21818507077

Router: Netgear DGN1000, firmware V1.1.00.35_ww

ISP: Orange (was BT)

Since moving over to Orange from BT my VSS has not worked at all, other than the flashing/steady power light, except during the reboot sequence.

I have contacted Orange but they were unable to help, beyond pointing me to Google and saying "it'll be there somewhere..". They say they do not block anything.

I have spoken to a number of people at the VSS team who have been very helpful, but ultimately unable to solve my problem.

I have configured a static IP address for my VSS.

I have configured 5 Services for TCP & UDP traffic on ports 8, 50, 123, 500 & 4500.

I have configured 5 Firewall Rules for Inbound Services to always allow traffic on the above ports from any WAN address to my VSS' static IP address.

I have configured 5 Firewall Rules for Outbound Services to always allow traffic on the above ports from any internal LAN address to any WAN address.

I have enabled "Respond to Ping on Internet WAN Port

UPnP is enabled, but no active portmaps are showing.

I have rebooted my router, then powered off my VSS. I have rebooted my router, then reset my VSS.

I have left the VSS for 24 hours at a time to see if anything makes any difference.

The only traffic I can detect in the Router's Firewall logs is that the VSS is communicating outward on port 500 to 212.183.133.179 (host212-183-133-179.uk.access.vodafone.net).

I have used the PFPortChecker to test whether the ports are open correctly and the tests register in the Router's Firewall logs, so I know it should be detecting and recording any traffic on these ports when the VSS is reset or power cycled.

The odd thing is that I had no issues at all with my VSS whilst BT was my ISP, including making no changes to the original router to get it working perfectly. I did try and go back to that, but that didn't work either, including making all the necessary port forwarding changes.

Can anyone suggest where I go from here, please?

Richard

Re: Sure Signal - Flashing/Steady Power Light, No Other Lights Lit

VSS Serial #: 21231309879

Router: Dovado 3GN, firmware V4.2.5-3.2543 official, date 2010-07-27

ISP: T-Mobile, connected with a ZTE 3G

All items correct and verified according to the checklist given as the very first post of this thread.

VSS's power light is flickering steadily, no other status lights on the VSS side showing any sign of life.  ETH port on the back side shows green and orange, Dovado 3GN is working well otherwise for both WLAN and WAN users.  DCHP is enabled, the router has recognised the MAC address of the VSS and has assigned it a valid IP address (192.168.0.161).  Vodafone myAccount page states that the VSS is active.  Have ran speedtest.net several times to check thruput and am getting upload stats of between 0.65 and 1.40 Mbps.  Download stats of 0.7 - 1.7 Mbps.  Is this sufficient for the VSS?

Any other ideas?
