Hi,
I followed the troubleshooting steps and my Sure Signal does not have an IP address. The MAC address is not listed when I try "arp -a" or if I look at the DHCP Client table in my routers admin tool.
The ethernet cable is fine and the networks lights on the Sure Signal are as expected.
Is this an issue with the Sure Signal unit, or a config issue?
Many thanks

The other day, we had a brief power cut of fifteen minutes or so and the SureSignal has stopped working. I've tried every combination of resetting, disconnecting and rebooting (not necessarily in that order).
When I switch it on, the power light comes on and, after a few seconds, the other three lights flash once in sequence, but the only light that remains on is the power light. The amber network light is active, as is the corresponding port light on the router. On logging into the router, I see that the IP address is showing as 192.168.0.3.
We've had power cuts before and I've had occasion to switch it off before, but there has never been a problem.
If this needs action from your end, I can send you the serial number and anything else needed. I did try using the Vodafone email, but after entering all the details and my message, I pressed 'send' and was told that the site was not available.
Hope you can help.
Best wishes
Alastair

Hi saklas,
Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here
.
If the Sure Signal isn't appearing in the DHCP table then it's likely to be a configuration issue. Could you let me know which model of router you're using? It may also be worth checking the Sure Signal setup guide on Portforward.
alastairhouss, we may just need to resync your Sure Signal from our end. If you reply to the email I've just sent you, then we'll be in touch as soon as we can.

Hi George,
thanks for the reply. My router is a Linksys E3000. I have looked into the port forwarding, but can't do this without getting the IP address of the Sure Signal first.
Thanks

Hi saklas,
Thanks for your reply. The IP address for the Sure Signal will be assigned by your Router, if it's not doing this automatically, then you'll need to add the Sure Signal manually using the Mac address (this can be found on the back of the Sure Signal).
stevenfeldman, as your Sure Signal has been working without any issues, we may be able look into this further for you. Just reply to the email I've sent you and we'll be in touch as soon as we can.

Hi, I'm another in the same situation - worked fine for months, no changes to router or network at home, now stuck on the 'steady power light, no other lights lit' state too.
Have you counted how many people are experiencing this problem, out of interest?
James.

Righto, thanks for the reply James.
Some extra info:
SS serial number: 21227725153
Broadband provider: Orange
Ports all forwarded as described elsewhere (though of course up until this week I've never needed to do this).
Router: Netgear DG834G
I tired deregistering and re-registering too, so it may look like it's only been active for a day or so, but that's a false impression.
Thanks.

My VSS has been working since I got it 15 months ago. (OK I've had to reset it several times ... but it's worked mostly)
VSS serial No is 21196917740 ;Router is BTHomeHub2
Now the power light is the only thing ever showing (flashing since I last reset it an hour ago; steady previously) as has been the case for nearly a week now.
I have followed every instruction in the sticky - many times. I am quite comfortable with the technical aspects and am certain the internet connection is good enough (certainly no worse than over the last 15 months) and running BT Speed test and PingTest.com confirms this.
My Vodafone account Dashboard shows VSS as "active" however it cannot connect any more.
I have not configured port forwarding for this device as a) previous posts have pointed out that this is not necessary for Vodafone-solicited packets b) this has been unnecessary on this router for the last 15 months.
Veery lost without mobile signal to my iPhone. What can be done?

Hi, thanks for replying.
Apologies, my mistake when copying and pasting from Dashboard. Yes, this Sure Signal has been registered and working fine since last Feb. Occasionally I've had to use the reset button on the back, but now even this isn't helping, but I can see from my router's admin pages that it's getting an IP address.
The correct serial number is 21197000546.
Cheers for now

Thanks for your reply Benj, and for resynching my VSS.
I did the factory reset as requested and all seemed to progressing fruitfully this time, and the VSS established an internet connection and seemed to be updating itself, but unfortunately the process was interrupted by the BT broadband connection being dropped for a short while. So I factory reset the VSS again but now I'm back to the single flashing VSS power light and VSS has no internet connection.
After quite a bit of interaction with BT our BT broadband connection has been good for a couple of years now. However, I have noticed a couple of times in the last month that in the early hours at weekends (it was 3:00am the morning after Easter Monday on this occasion) BT interrupt the service for a couple of minutes ... and I seem to have serendipitously hit just such an interruption just as the VSS was setting itself up. Now the VSS won't establish an internet connection. I shall leave the VSS trying to establish an internet connection and see what has happened later in the morning - but I suspect it has missed its chance. I can't help feeling that the way the VSS interacts with the Vodafone infrastructure is not very resilient to the realities of the technology.
I hope you can help sort this out. Thanks.

@alastairhouss there is a problem with the Vodafone form you get to email support requests. It has failed every time I have tried to use it. Just like it did with you.

Hi BenJ
Is there any update on your progress on fixing the SS/estimated time for resolution?
Thanks for your help
Marc
