Getting Vodaphone Sure Signal to work on EE Bright Box

My Vodaphone Sure Signal worked fine with a Orange livebox router, but since i was upgraded to the EE Bright Box it wont work.

Vodaphone told me that for the Sure signal to be working the router must have the below ports to be opened for the Suresignal box under 2 protocols TCP & UDP through the ISP

Port No.8

Port No 50

Port No 123

Port No 500

Port No 4500

I rang EE and the nice Indian lady said something about they wouldn't help and I would have to find out how to get it working myself.

My Vodafone Sure Signal is version 1 with 4 lights. The top power light remains on constant. Serial no: 21231320819

Can anyone offer any advice please ?

Hi Bermuda_Onion,

Is there anything you stopped trying on July 8th? The box hasn't connected since then, so it may give us a clue as to why these connections aren't holding.

We've checked most things at this point, and if the box is faulty I can see that you're past the 2 year warranty point so we couldn't offer a free repair.

Check the Ethernet lights on the Sure Signal, just above the cable input. Are these flashing, lit or off?

Also, does it make a difference if you plug the cable into a different socket on the router?

Dave

Hi, I've tried different sockets on the router,

The Ethernet lights on the Sure Signal, just above the cable input are solid green with a flashing amber.

Nice to hear the waranty on the sure signal has expired. I thought paying over £30 per month might entitle me to be able to use my phone from home. I always thought having to buy a box to get a signal was a giant con in the first place.

Thanks for your efforts anyway

Hello, I hope I have posted this in the correct section of this forum. We have a similar problem with our EE bright box. I have followed the instructions given by the VF rep to the other customer and this is our siutation.

We have a SS box version 3. The red light is flashing, the next light is off and the last 2 are solid orange.

I was disappointed to have gotten no assistance from Vodafone, so I sorted my problem by putting the sure signal in the bin where it belongs

Hi everyone,

@cherrytree Welcome to the eForum.

I’ve checked your serial number and I can see that it’s last connected 30 March 2015.

I can see it's registered successfully, please try a new Ethernet cable and perform a reset as advised below:

  • Unplug the Ethernet cable from the Sure Signal
  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button
  • Plug the cable back in
  • Allow around one hour for the Sure Signal to come back online.

@bermuda_onion I’m sorry that’s happened.

If you need any further help, please let us know.

Thanks,

Sarah
