Honest opinions on the ss

Hi guys, Both my contracts are up soon and the lack of signal a.t our home is really beginning to cheese us off. I'm reluctant to shell out a further 50 quid for this device unless It actually works I'm sure you will appreciate. Especially when three offer a similar device for free if required. Been with Vodafone for many years now and would prefer for the pair of us to stay put but as I have said before having little to no signals when home is beginning to grate. Our handsets can go frm no signal to 3 bars in some locations by simply moving it a few inches (seriously). It's impossible to answer calls as the calls always drop or communication to say the least is difficult. Really just looking for honest opinions on the device as ts expensive. If it helps we are bt infinity customers with the home hub 2 if anyone has a similar setup? Thanks.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

it sucks - works intermittently, isn't reliable

when it goes down, phone support don't have a clue

only support is here, takes an age, you have to take a crash course in IT support and they'll have you jumping through irrelevent hoops for days until they sort it out problems which are frequently VFs end.

they never apologise, never explain, always try to pass the buck

shoddy all round

really, save yourself the pain.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

ditto the above, and furthermore you may have issues depending on what equipment you use and who provides you with broadband

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Hi,

My unit has not worked since I purchased it 2 days ago, and it appears to me after many hours trawling the posts and internet searches that Vodafone do not have a solution to a common problem.

Maybe worth the effort if you have no signal but beware it may not work, and then thats when your troubles really start for it appears there is no quick fix. I must have 6 other devices networked and connected to the internet with no problems (now all disconnected allowing not very sure signal sole rights to my router modem) in the vain hope it will evantually spring into life.

It is going back to the shop today if I cant get it working.

Hi Sander123,

Many thanks for your post and welcome.

We’d love to see if we’re able to help you get a great upgrade deal and look at the possibility of including a Sure Signal as part of that.

I’ve sent you a private message with our contact details. If you do want us to look at a possible deal for you, just respond to that.

You can find your PM Inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.

We are a small team and are very popular at the moment, so don’t be surprised if it takes a couple of days for us to respond after you’ve emailed.

Hi mrblack and sparkiemike,

It’s disappointing to hear about your experiences around Sure Signal. If you do need any help in the future, you can find more information here.

Let me take this opportunity to show you how Vodafone like to say thank you; take a look at VIP.

Cheers

Ian

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

there you go - that's the level of support you get when the equipment doesn't work, a link back to the forum!

Have a read back over the posts of the last few years - this equipment is not fit for purpose.

My advice, through long and bitter experience would be not to take the upgrade and explore other options.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Never had a problem with mine and I've had it on 3 different broadband connections in 3 different locations. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Hi,

Never let it be said I will not admit when I am wrong. When the Sure Signal technical team looked at my problem they enabled my connection with a "resync", why that is required on a new system I do not know, but that is the first thing I will ask for if my system goes down in the future.

Now it is working I can report that signal is excellent Full strength all around the house and  in the back garden as well in an area where you could get only one bar reception hanging out of the window like the man in the ad.

WELL DONE SURE SYNC TECHNICAL TEAM..

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Thanks for the PM. I have filled out the template as required.

I can understand things just simply will not work for some people but I am willing to give any company a chance especially as i've not really had reason to be unhappy until recently.

Fingers crossed etc. :-)

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Ive been using the suresginal for years and it works fantasticly.

got it when upgrading to a new phone as the coverage where im form is pretty poor. for me it was a case of plug it in leave it and before long full 3G signal covered most of my house.

If you read the sure signal board on here you need to bear in mind that this is a support forum and it is going to be full of 'issues', after all your not going to post if there isn't an issue.

Apologies Sander123 that wasn't directed at you. I meant it as more a general comment one the 'look back at the forums' message MrBlack posted.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Hi

I got my VSS back in 2009 when they first came out and were called Vodafone Gateway and it's been brilliant !

Before I got it I couldn't get a signal without hanging out the upstairs window, running around the garden etc you get the picture.  Then Sure Signal sorted it out - full signal everywhere at home!  Fantastic!

BUT THEN .....

On Saturday I upgraded my iphone 3GS to the 4S and now, despite numerous telephone conversations with vodafone staff, it still won't link up with my Sure Signal :-(

I am on call so need a reliable signal at night so I'm really stressed now.  No one seems to be able to sort the problem out.   After a bit of digging - actually not much digging - it appears from the forum that this problem has been around since last year and is to do with the micro sim in the iphone 4S.   I just wish they had been honest when I was upgrading to the 4S about this problem and I would have chosen another phone.   Honesty costs nothing!

YES - when it works - great!    Just don't get a mobile with a micro sim in it.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Dissapointing callback from the web team today :-(

The interest was basically put on renewing our contracts with some admittedly poor deals and only when prompted was the sure signal actually then discussed at the tail end of the call.

Early days yet though i suppose. Have 4 different network SIM cards to try over the next couple of months in regards to signal etc. so see how it goes.

Hi Sander123,

I'm sorry we couldn't offer you a Samsung Galaxy Note or a HTC One X free at £26 a month. Realistically speaking, as a business we need to ensure we're recovering the costs of the hardware. That's before we take into account the generous tariffs, customer support, network maintenance and signal upgrade costs.

The offer for the discounted HTC One S bundled with a free Sure Signal for the other line still stands and you're more than welcome to approach my team in future should you wish to take advantage of it. :smileywink:

Cheers, Ben

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

Thanks for the update. I will speak to the boss about the one s as I think that was a very fair deal. I'm just a little annoyed that vodafone are asking 200 qyuid more at the very least than your reselling partners and competing providers. I understand you only have certain offers in front of you as that is simply how it works.

As I say I think she who must be obeyed was happy enough with the one s so will speak to her.

Re: Honest opinions on the ss

whatever handset you have, it won't be good for much if you're relying on suresignal.  I see the VF sockpuppets are out telling us how great it is, but seriously though, read what the networking and tech pros on the board have to say about it. Or have a look at the sheer volume of posts.

good luck, and I hope you have deep pockets for the early termination fee!
