Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

I guys,

As mentioned at the bottom of George's post, if all the checks he lists do not work, then can you post the details of your routers so we can see what hardware is involved?

I'm sure we can get this sorted!

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

Dave,

Like so many others on this post recently my SS box just stopped working after being fine for 7or8 months.

Same symptoms - light one on Light two flashing.

Nothing has been changed on the router and it is enabled for upnp anyway.

As requested here is the technical details and the troubleshooting so far:-

ISP: Virgin Media Cable broadband - XXL 50mb

Router: CISCO RVS4000

(also tried port forwarding but made no difference)

UPnP enabled

via helpdesk reregistered and resyncd - no change

Replacement SS Box supplied - registered and synced

No change to symptoms.

So I think it is time for Vodaphone to take us seriously and troubleshoot the problems properly.

Thanks,

AdrianM

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

Well after upgrading my firmware (or virtual downgrade due to loss of functionality) I now have 1 solid power light, and a flashing @ light.

Router Thomson (SpeedTouch) ST585v6 Firmware: 6.2.29.2

All ports are open and attached to the SureSignal (which has a fixed IP address assigned by DHCP).

ISP Bulldog / Pipex

I have no idea how to do anything / or if I need to with the following.

Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26

So any help would great - This thing has never worked so I'm not in the group where it has and now doesn't

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

My Sure Signal has also stopped working this morning, same as everyone else, Light one on, Light two flashing, it's been fine for many months, a few times its disconnected but always came back on fairly quick, this time is the longest its been disconnected, No changes made to setup at all, just the same as the others, it has to be on Vodafone's end because none of us made any changes to our setup, its very irritating.

Makes it difficult to determine when you're setting up if you have an issue your end - or are suffering from the larger vodafone vss issue.

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

I have recently bought the SureSignal as I cannot get any signal in my flat (over 4 years). Arrived, set it up correctly into my new router from Talk Talk  *(D- Link (DSL - 2680/TT) wireless Modem Router. Problem is power is on and the only other light flashing is @ the internet light. Vodaphone advised me to call Talk Talk with 5 port numbers to open that they gave me. They will not do this as not there policy?.

Advised then by Vodaphone to go to the site PortForward.com to get free advise how to add the ports with my IPS? address.

I find this very confusing and do not want to do something wrong etc.

I have registered and been confirmed so I have followed all procedures. Also the *router was not listed anyway in their list should I have attempted this anyway.

I do not know what to do without professional help which I suppose I will have to get at a cost.

Very frustrating as I really want this set up to make and receive call in my home without having to go outside or hang out the window.

I never realised all this hassle when I bought it and Vodaphone were as helpful as they could be I guess with the several calls I made. I understand they cannot get involved with ports etc.

Can someone help me in a simplified manner so I can get it working. I am not very technical when it comes to things like this and do not want to make the situation worse.I presume also that Talk Talk will give me the IPS address?

Is there any easy step by step dummy guide to solve this and with the ports open will it work for sure.

I look forward to any feedback with all the above and the router I have mentioned.

I think I have explained everything. I wonder if BT would have opened the ports?

Many thanks

David

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

Hi

Similar problems here. 1st Suresignal worked after some hours and intervention from Vodafone, allegedly because there was no 3G signal in the area (I thought that was the problem the Suresignal was supposed to address). The Suresignal then worked for a number of months and then stopped working with the dreaded Light 1 on and Light 2 flashing syndrome. A replacement Suresignal then arrived and the problem has continued. After many calls to Vodafone and conflicting advice as to ports, one person claiming that port 8 was vital to the operation and another claiming that port 8 can be ignored, the Suresignal still does not work. Why is there not a web interface or some other means of interrogation to see what is the problem and how it can be rectified?!

In terms of addresses the Suresignal is contacting the following ip addresses which also does not agree with the list published at the top of this thread:

86.53.208.148

135.245.1.1

212.183.133.177

212.183.133.178

How can this ever be resolved?

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

It's so irritating that it's been working fine then just stopped with no changes made at all, I really do believe it's something on Vodafone's side but no way to prove it, so what is to be done? very very frustrating, wasted so much time on this thing and nothing for it.

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

I have just set up a suresignal box and after 24 hrs, I've still just got the @ light flashing. I'm using a standard, out of the box netgear modem router on a talk talk line. I've run a suresignal off this before with no difficulty but this one just won't register.

The connection is fine, the box has been given an ip address and I've had the text to say it's all working.

Any help?

PW

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

HI, I am also having similar problems this week  I got my SureSignal Box in September, initially it worked fine for a few days, then I started to get the dreaded first light on, 2nd light flashing. After about a week, and lots of searching on the internet, I opened some ports on my router, and it worked. It has all be fine until this Tuesday (7th Dec)  and the old problem is back.  First light on, and the second light flashing .  I have reset my router and recreated the open port and I have left it on overnight to try to connect as past experience tells me you sometimes have to wait several hours for it to connect but nothing seems to work anymore.

My details are:

I have a Thompson ST585 v6 router.

The following ports are all open for the SureSignal box:

8TCP

8UDP

50TCP

50UDP

123TCP

123UDP

500UDP

4500UDP

please help, I have no signal at all without the SureSignal box working

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

Hello

I have had the suresignal since febuary and its was working fine untill tuesday when i noticed the suresignal had lost its connection and the 2nd light was constanly flashing,

I have tried everything possible including spending the last 4 days on fone to suresignal team and every day i was told that they have de registared my suresignal and re- registared it again and within 24 hrs it should be working after 4 days of them doing this every day its still excatly the same as it was with the 2nd light was constanly flashing.

I have just come off the phone from speaking to 2nd line support who advised me that it will be working with 72 hrs but i very much doubt this and no this wont be resolved by then. I  do understand fully how suresignal works but what baffles me like few other members have reported there suresignal was working fine up untill tues and nothing has changed on my pc, Its easy for vodafone to say for example: its a problem with your isp etc in my eyes its vodafone that has the problem because it doesnt affect every suresignal user it seems vodafone will not accept responsibilty for this and address this problem.

Think its time that vodafone woke up and get this problem sorted as without my suresignal my phone is useless as i have no coverage watsoever and i aint paying £65+vat for a monthly tarrif i carnt even use!

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

I too have recently experienced solid power light, flashing @ light ever since about the 5th/6th december. Prior to this it had been working ok. No changes to ANY configuration my end.

Usual useless technical "support" from vodaphone over the phone. "Definitely the ISP's problem" they said, they didn't even know about the planned VSS mainenance this December as reported on your forum!!!!!!  http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Sure-Signal-Maintence-Throughout-December/m-p/60...

PLEASE GET THIS SORTED - I need this signal for work!!!

Details

ISP: Sky  14MB d/l   0.4 MB u/l

Router: Belkin 5D8633UK4A

Ports opened:

50

500

4500

123

Like I said working flawlessly for two months prior to what I suspect is the Planned Maintenance discussed in the above thread. No ammount of switching on/off factory resetting/ waiting 24 hours/ 72 hours has got this up and working again.

PLEASE FIX

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

I'm currently in the light 1 on light 2 flashing situation after having 8 weeks of untroubled use. I called the Vodafone support line yesterday and was given a new destination address and port descriptions (I'm not really IT literate in these matters, so I don't understand what impact changing these would have) to pass onto my isp (virgin) as it was thought they could resolve the problem. When I called them up they said that they were unable to help and that the issue probably lay with the sure signal box.

I've been here before. This is my second sure signal box as I returned the first one after 48 hours of it not working. On the first occasion my internet provider was identified by Vodafone as the most likely cause of the issue, however in the end it turned out that the sure signal box was faulty, this was after several hours spent on the phone between Vodafone and my internet provider and turning down the offers of upgrading my Vodafone tech support service for a fee to resolve the issue.

However the new box up until now has been great. But I'm bascially feeling stuck at the moment, I work from home and use my mobile as a business tool. I've turned the sure signal box off and on again a number of times, checked the cables connections are OK several times over and now just need some helpful advice on how to quickly resolve the issue so that I can get back to work as usual. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Sure Signal - Light 1 On, Light 2 Flashing

Still stuck in the Light 1 on and Light 2 flashing mode today, but after a hard reboot the Suresignal no longer responds to pings. Is this an enhancement and to be expected or a fault?

[ Edited ]

After our router was reset yesterday, this is now happening to one of ours.

We have two gatways running off the same system. One is connected, the other one isn't. So this must be a problem at your end.

I have now waited 24 hours... :smileymad:
