New Suresignal goes off in the evening

Hi,

I receIved a suresignal last week serial number 40122408525.

I registered it online before setting it up and 3 handsets all receivednotification that they could use the sure signal. I then switched the sure signal on and left it overnight for it to sync. The next day all phones couldconnect and had full signal strength. That was Saturday morning. At about 11pm on Saturday I noticed I had no signal on my phone. I checked suresignal and that had a solid red light only. I switched it off and back on again. I then noticed that the 2 white light were flashing and thought I would leave it and went to bed. The next day, Sunday, it seemed to work ok. However, I have just noticed again at around 11 pm that thesuresignal white lights were flashing and have now gone off and I have only a solid red light.

I have nothard it long but it seems to be going off at night. Can anybody shed any light on this. The SS is connected to a draytek 2830n router.

Thanjs in advance.

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

We turn ours off at night as it is a waste of electricity running a BB router and a SS box. They both go off and it takes about 5 mins to get BT Broadband back up and about 15 mins on a favourable day to register the SS box and get 3G. BUT it very often fails to connect on a Saturday morning.
Just had a whole weekend with no SS signal so NO mobile phone at all!
Amazing, this morning it is working again.
Now it is off again at 11..45. Back on at 12.15!!!
The system is so unreliable as to be worse than useless!
When will the networks get proper coverage in rural areas?
I am only 7 miles from Norwich, an almost flat county, yet there is no network whose signal is usable here. GRRRRR!

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

thanks for the reply and unfortunately there does seem to be a continuing negative theme with the suresignal box.

i would apprecite some feedback from the experts of the forum. This is a reasonable request and done through the forums so as to not tie up thier support lines. A new product like this should work out of the box.

Mods/Vodafone suppot etc.. please respond.

Regards.

@ Tags what is your upload speed and your ping times?

You can test them both here @ speedtest.net

The maximum latency from the SS to the vodafone network must be less that 240ms

otherwise the device clock will not synchronise and the SS will not work.

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

thanks for the reply.

Speedtest is;

Ping 27ms, download 20.34Mbps, upload 3.05Mbps

I think these results should be quick enough.

Regards

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

Hi Tags

Thanks for your post. If you're only noticing the Sure Signal going off at night this may be because firmware updates maybe being pushed down to your device. Any updates are sent overnight to minimise the impact on your usage of the Sure Signal.

I can see from your Sure Signal serial number that it's connected to the network and there doesn't appear to be anything untoward that may be affecting the usage.

Are you still experiencing the same issue now at night or has it settled down?

Thanks

Simon

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

Thanks for the reply Tech.

The same issue happened again last night. Coincidentally, I received a text message late last night saying that my signal box had moved , please update its postcode. etc...

The box is in the same place its been in sice Fridy last week when i connected it.

How do i check the SS has the latest firmware? Would it keep trying to DL formware every night.

Does it point to a faulty SS if it is not reporting back to the server its firmware version?

Many thanks for the info, please let me know what you think in light of the above information.

Regards,

Hi Tags

Thank you for your post and the additional information.:smileyhappy:

I have amended the postcode for you, this may have changed due to an update from your ISP.

Please let me know if you are still experiencing difficulties.

Many Thanks

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

After monitoring this box, i can confirm it isoff more than it is on. I am annoyed that on 2 occassions when i have wanted to make a call, i have no signal at all. As I type this now, 8pm Weds evening, I have a solid red light and flashing signal light.

Why?

Tech....whats wrong with this box. As it stands now, its not fit for the purpose it was sold. Please advise what I should do next.

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

Hi Tags,

If you are repeatedly seeing the solid power light and flashing second light then it would indicate that the Sure Signal could be faulty.

So that we can look at your options in more detail I have sent you a quick PM, please follow the instructions on the PM and one of the team will be able to give you a quick call to discuss this further.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Re: New Suresignal goes off in the evening

I posted on this blog 2 weeks ago. I phoned BT to get the lowdown on my speeds and they said that my upload average of 0.36 mbps was "normal" but they would make a tweak to it . It has been more reliable since but not constant.

Today I had a signal at 8 am but not 9am. it then came back in only to go out again.

I just did the Speedtest and it returns Ping 44ms, download 5.8 mbps and upload 0.38mbps. I have no sure signal though.

Please tech team   can you help me sort this out??????? Do I need to get a new box? or what??

Personally, I wouldn't switch off my router and SS box overnight just to save electricity....I only switch mine off if we're away for a week or more on holiday or business.

I really am environmentally conscious (and always grumble about the cost of utiltity bills!), but the saving in this case is tiny.   And, if you rely on your SS for your phone service, you are losing  contact overnight (for an emergency maybe) and potentially longer if there are issues on re-connecting.    Worth a few pence of electricity each week, IMHO?

constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

Hello Andy

I have at last got some idea how to use this forum, so I posted a new question after adding to an old one.

You closed down my new thread yesterday with no advice or answers. You referred to my second question on another thread but have not answered that, either. Why have you posted that there is nothing else to add??

Here again is my question below:

I cannot find my original forum post about my connection, but I was told that it was prob. a BT fault with too slow an upload speed.  I phoned BT to get the lowdown on my speeds and they said that my upload average of 0.36 mbps was "normal" but they would make a tweak to it . It has been more reliable since but not constant.

Today I had a signal at 8 am but not 9am. it then came back in only to go out again.

Please tech team   can you help me sort this out??????? Do I need to get a new box? or what??

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

My message above was a new question topic.

Why have you deleted it and stuck it in this old thread?

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

Hi Peter,

I've moved your post here since the latest post has the same question in as your post above from 10:57am yesterday. By moving it here, we wouldn't need to duplicate information across your two threads and so, all information is kept in one place.

As soon as an advisor is available, they'll be along to help.

Thanks

Andy

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

No. You deleted it and then in the old thread you said it was fixed when it was not.
I explained that I had now begun to understand how to navigate this forum, which why I had double posted but you have now DELETED 2 new postings.
I consider that to be very poor communication and bad manners.
I have been attempting to get a proper answer to this problem for MONTHS!!!!

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

Hi pryland

Thank you for your posts.:smileyhappy:

I can assure you that you could post this several times and we would still not delete any posts, simply merge them into the same thread and ask you not to keep posting so we can answer as soon as possible in the one place for all to see.

I’d like to help to resolve this VSS (Vodafone Sure Signal) issue for you, but to do this I will need to take some further information from you.

Can you post the following results to this thread?

 Speedtest and Pingtest

Your IP address.

Traceroute.

  • On a PC / Laptop :
  • Click on Start  and select Run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear.
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177    press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply.

And finally, your VSS serial number.

Many Thanks

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

I do not understand the logic here. I can only find this thread after a long search. By starting a new topic I can find it quickly! In any case this was not my thread in the first place!
I have done as you asked, but the CMD dialogue box will not edit to copy. I don't know why........so I cannot paste it here. Please advise which info you want from it.
My Ip is 192.168.1.254
My SS no. is 40113827253
I gave you the ping and speed in the new thread I started and you closed.

Re: constantly losing all Suresignal connection.

Another whole day and no reply from the Tech Team!
Another week and no nearer to an answer to the unreliable SS box, which today has behaved perfectly.
Are you guys tasked to wear down customers until they explode or have a nervous breakdown? Either is possible.
Who ever is your manager,( I shudder to think of the efforts I would have to exert to gain any inkling of his/ her name), should not only be sacked but taunted by John Cleese acting as the worst side of Basil Fawlty for several months and denied a mobile phone for life.
