New VSS - TG585v7 ; Can't connect. Tracert 212.183.133.178 times out

Can't get my new 3-light suresignal working. TG585v& supports uPnP so no config required, though I haved tried manually o0pening the ports in the firewall as specified in the vodafone support doc for this router. Tracert to any of the IP addreses specified in the same doc all time out after about 9 hops...

Re: New VSS - TG585v7 ; Can't connect. Tracert 212.183.133.178 times out

James,

Thanks for your response.

My Sure Signal serial number is 40114657642,mac address 0c4c3900d0e3.

Tried to connect via TG585v7 (supports uPnP) to Utility Warehouse network.

Curently trying via Siemens SE572 via  Orange network, public IP  2.25.8.142. Don't think the SE572 supports uPnP so the correct porfts may not be open as I don't yet have the owners permission to configure the firewall.

Out of curiosity, my ethernet analyer shows only DHCP and ARP traffic; The sure signal seems entirely passive thereafter. Is this what you would expect?

Hi Matt (I'm so glad you signed off without the massive number in your username!)

Looking at the Sure Signal on our system, I can see that it appeared to fail when validating, so I've re-synced your device from here. Can you perform a reset for me and let me know if this resolves things?

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Re: New VSS - TG585v7 ; Can't connect. Tracert 212.183.133.178 times out

Hi

I am experiencing the same issue. The power light is steady but the system and phone lights are flashing. We have tried connecting this to multiple routers (Mikrotik & Netgear DG834Gv5) and get no success from either. From traceroute I also see hops up until 85.205.116.2 and nothing after.

My sure signal serial number is 40121007740, the device was registered online about 36 hours ago and still it does not connect. I've tried resetting the device several times but no joy.

We have also tried connecting the device via multiple ISPs. From our Mikrotik firewall I see traffic between us and Vodafone on UDP ports 500 (IKE) and 4500 (NAT-T).

[ Edited ]

Hi erictoll and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here.

Can you ensure that this is done please?

Manually configure your Router to allow port-forwarding.
In most cases, routers support a system called "Universal Plug-n-Play" or UPnP, which will setup port-forwarding for you automatically. If you have a complicated network setup, or a complex router, you may be required to enter these settings in manually.

The following details list the IP addresses and Port Numbers that need to be forwarded to your Sure Signal's internal IP address. For detailed instructions on how to do this, we recommend either contacting your ISP or Router Manufacturer, or referring to the Default Guide for your particular make and model, over at http://portforward.com

Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26

Ports and Protocols:
Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP

Port 8 - TCP/IP

Please note that in the above list of IP addresses, the notation "212.183.131.128/26" means the complete range of IP addresses between 212.183.131.128 and 212.183.131.191

Your Router will also need to be able to assign the Sure Signal with a DNS Server address via DHCP.

Also, can you copy and paste the traceroute so that we can see the hop times? We need to ensure that none of the hops take longer than 200m/s. Anything longer than this and the delay will be to longer for the Sure Signal to connect to our NTP server and stay synchronised.

I can see that the device has never made a connection to our network so I have also resynchronised it.

Please let me know how you get on and we’ll be happy to help you further.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: New VSS - TG585v7 ; Can't connect. Tracert 212.183.133.178 times out

[ Edited ]

Hi

I'm experiencing the same issue, my tracert times out. However I'm tracing 212.183.133.181 (as instructed by vodafone) and not 178 as the poster. Could you please help?

I have bought the Sure signal box last year, and after some initial problems I managed to get it working when I have contacted customer services and they sent me an email with the ports that need to be open and how can I test the connection using tracert 212.183.133.181. Not sure why these are not included in the documentation in the first place, but nevermind.

It was working OKish for about two or three weeks ago, when it started to play up.

I have 2 handsets, one is a Samsung F480V, the other one is a Nokia E63. None of the phones pick up the signal if the network mode is on Automatic (F480V) / Dual mode (E63). It used to work so not sure why it suddenly doesn't. I don't really want to switch network mode back and forth every time I leave the house and come back, but this is not the bigger problem.

If I change the network mode to UMTS it picks up the signal and I get full bars on both phones. However I can't make outbound calls on either of the phones. I get a "network busy" message on the F480V and a "connection error" message on the E63.

Receiving calls doesn't seem to be a problem.

The router is a Sagemcom 2504N (Sky)

I'm attaching some screenshots below:

Thank you

Hello peter1979,

Thanks for your post.

I've sent you a PM which can be accessed here. If you could follow the instructions in the PM and send us your details one of the team will be with you as soon as they can.

It's worth noting the phenomenon of no outbound calls is explained here :smileywink:

Cheers,

LeeH

Re: New VSS - TG585v7 ; Can't connect. Tracert 212.183.133.178 times out

Can I please get a reply of some sorts?

I have sent 2 private messages to you in reply to your initial email. I have followed the instructions you gave me and filled out a contact form, but haven't heard back from anyone.

I can't get mobile signal in my home at all for over a month now
