Solution

No 3G signal

Paul-42

All lights correct on SS v1, but no 3g signal.

Ping = 10ms,  Download = 72.27Mbps, Up = 17.09Mbps.

Tracert from my pc only shows the router as the first line then all timed out.

Ping 212.183.133.177 times out.

Only change i made was to move the network port from an 8 way switch to a spare port on my Plusnet router.

Have re-booted the SS but no change, always end up with lights 1,2 & 4 steady on but no light 3.

Two phones, niether connects both worked ok before.

Have tried changing the postcode to a different on in a good 3g area but no change.

Ideas please??

Thanks, Paul

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

So having arranged with support that tech support will call me today to sort this out I thought I would have one more go last night.

First i did the reboot as per the normal instruction & it still didn't work, not really surprised. Then i had a read of the forum. Lots of people with a similar issue till i discovered a post by "AnabolicStewie". In it he did the usual reboot but modified it by waiting 5 minutes before plugging the ethernet network cable back in & it worked for him.

So i thought this was worth trying.   IT WORKED!!!!!!!!

My Galaxy Note worked within a few minutes of the SS finishing it's update & the Nokia took around 15 mins before it had a stable 3G signal. Both are still working this morning so problem solved & all thanks to "AnabolicStewie".

I will do a seperate post so other users see this & hopefully it will help them as well.

Forgot to give serial no -  21197064484

Also unit has been switched off for a couple of weeks. Maybe a re-sync needed please. Have done the hard reset with no change.

Admins could you look at this issue please, maybe a re-sync from you is needed, thanks

Hi there Paul-42,

I just thought I'd let you know we work posts in the order we get them :Winking_smiley:

I've forced a resync of your VSS so please factory reset it. If that doesn't sort it, try reverting to your old setup.

Cheers,

LeeH

Ok thanks Lee. I have already put the SS back to where it was on my network & have reset the SS twice now since your resync but no change.

Do i need to give it more time or should it work straight away?

Also can you confirm for the reset, i pushed the reset button until all 4 lights were on, held the button in, pulled the power then power back on & released button after first light came on. This was followed by the sequence of lights 1 - 4 followed by the normal loading sequence. The 4th light was flashing for 2 - 3 minutes then left with 1,2 & 4 on steady.

Still no 3rd light & no signal on phones even after rebooting them.

Broadband working fine at over 70Mb down & 18Mb up.

Thanks, Paul

Just to add tracert result - i have never had the tracert to 212.183.133.177 work but to 85.205.116.2 looks like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Paul>tracert -h 15 85.205.116.2

Hi Paul_42,

What happens when you try the traceroute to the correct IP address - 212.183.133.177?

Can you post what you get, including any error message, as this may indicate exactly where the fault lies.

Dave

Here you go -

Link doesn't work so speedtest results are:

Ping = 12ms Down = 70.64Mbps Up = 17.4Mbps
