Nokia 808 will not connect to suresignal

Hi,

I've had a Sure Signal box for a couple of years and it's working fine with several handsets registered.

I recently purchased (from Amazon) a UK variant of the Nokia 808 and fitted a new Vodafone PAYG sim card.  The phone works fine on the public 3G and 2G Vodafone network.

I registered the new number with my Sure Signal and got the confirmation text.  However, the Nokia 808 phone will not connect to my Sure Signal. The phone is set to 3G, and I've tried powering the Sure Signal off and on.

Is the Nokia 808 compatible with Sure Signal?

Any suggestions?

Hi Luqi,

We've tried a resync at this end, so can you try a factory reset of the Sure Signal for me to make sure it takes?

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Hi luqi and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here. All 3G phones will work on the Sure Signal. Can you let me know what your Sure Signal serial number is? Also, have you tried removing and re-adding the number?

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

The s/n is 40110559149.

I tried removing and re-registering the number a couple of days ago, but that didn't fix the problem.  But I'll try that again once the vodafone.co.uk site lets me login - currently undergoing some maintenance.

Thanks.

Hi Wayne,

I've just tried de-registering and re-registering the number, and received the confirmation text messages.

But the phone will still not connct to my SureSignal box (s/n is 40110559149).

Other phones are connecting ok.

Hi there luqi,

Thanks for your confirmation posts.

Are you still seeing these symptoms?

Can you confirm that the 808 connects to 3G when you're not in range of the VSS?

Is 3G enabled on the device?

Is it set to dual mode or 3G/WCDMA only?

If it's set to dual mode, please could you change it to 3G/WCDMA only and let me know how you get on?

Cheers,

LeeH

Hi Lee,

I've set the phone to 3G only, and it does connect to the Vodafone 3G network when I'm well out of range of the VSS box.

When I'm back at home, the signal is quite weak (1 - 2 bars) so I assume the 808 is not connecting to VSS, whereas other phones show full signal strength.

BTW - thanks Dave and the VF tech team.

Pleased to say my Nokia 808 is now connecting to VSS.
