Solution

Power light on, second light flashing

Burly

I am having similar problems to many others. My Sure Signal has worked perfectly for 6 years and all of a sudden it fails to go beyond the 'power light on, second light flashing' stage. I have reset the Sure Signal in any number of ways, changed cables, moved it around the house and have spoken on several occasions to tech help who regretably do little other than to say reset it or contact BT. I have not changed any settings so there should be no reason why it doesn't work. I cannot use my phone at home due to the poor signal and unless the Sure Signal can be resurrected I will have little option other than to look to another provider. So... following on from other requests I have seen on this forum I attach relevant info and hope that you will be able to use this to resolve the problem.

I am with BT on a BT Home Hub version 3b.

The Sure Signal serial number is 21197136787

3x speed tests are: Download 6.09, 6.11 and 6.10

                             Upload 0.39, 0.39 and 0.40

3x ng tests are: 40ms, 42ms and 42ms

The ext IP address is 86.158.226.255 (IPV6  ::ffff:569e:e2ff)

The trace route results are:

C:\Users\Bob>tracert 212.183.133.177

Hi Burly,

Welcome to the eForum. :Smiling:

Your Sure Signal made contact with the network at 12.13am today.

Is everything back up and running now?

I’ve noticed its running the old firmware and have requested the latest to be pushed through.

Please leave your Sure Signal and don’t reset it for at least 24 hours.

Thanks,

Gemma

Thanks for the response Gemma. Unfortunately I continue to have the same issue with the power light on and the second light flashing.

I don't know if the new firmware has gone through yet or not but I will leave the SS on (as I always have) and get back to you tomorrow to let you know if there is any change.

Can I assume from what you say that the info I provided shows that the Sure Signal should be working? If not what is the relevance of the SS making contact this morning?

Hi Burly,

I can see the firmware is still being pushed through. Please try resetting the Sure Signal, then your router and then your phones (in that order).

If we still can't contact the Sure Signal, then I'm afraid it would point to a fault with the unit. As it's out of warranty, you can purchase a new one here.

Thanks,

Ben
