Re: BT network issues on suresignal

Is there any news on this? I connected our suresignal to the router on the evening of the 20th. It immediately showed up as active in the account on my vodafone. But I just can't get it to connect - Two amber lights and flashing power light. The router is upnp and I've even tried putting the SS in the demilitarized zone.

I contacted Vodfone help yesterday and they said all will be well 12 - 24 hours on. 18 hours on should I sit happy?

Getting the thing to work will be a huge boon ( and keep a couple of Vodafone customers) as we are in a dead spot here!

@trolleybus Its' at 1492 which is the maximum the device can handle - through the web interface and using latsest stock firmware.

I might have a trawl of dd-wrt to see if there is a hacked one.

Yes the lights are as you describe. The only other point of note is that I can't add users to the device via My Vodafone. Which is making me wonder.

Home Hub users are using these devices aren't they?

I've seen some suggetions that the MTU might make a difference for connectivity of the SSD; values of 1494 n 1432 come to mind.

However whatever you do at your end should not affect the ability for you, or at the very least Vodafone, to add users to your device. I think that issue should be resolved first.

Hi everyone,

I can see @DaveCD has escalated this to our Specialist team for further investigation (Potential issue for BT users).

We'll update the thread as soon as we hear any news.

@JRatron @dalison I've resynced both your Sure Signal devices as they hadn't updated on our database for a long period of time.

If they don't make a connection after 6 hours, please wait for us to update the thread in reference to the above.

My V2 serial number is 40113848721. I have set port forwarding as advised. Red light on and 2 white flashing.

V2 times out after 10 mins, white lights go out only the red light remains on. I will leave power on in case it decides to try to connect again

Turned it back on, went through the start routine and now it's back to one red light. I will leave it on just in case. I how have the Draytek router as reccomended by trolleybus. Busy tonight so will hook it in tomorrow and see if that does the trick

I've two sure signal devices, one in the office and the other at home, both connected to a 2860. The office ISP is BT and the home connection ISP is Zen. In each case the Sure Signal Device went into ready state very quickly without any special configuration carried out for the SSD.

However subsequently I was advised to drop down the MTU to 1500 from 1520 which I did without any adverse effect on the SSD.

With acknowledements to David_W in the thinkbroadband forum who provided this URL and subsequent notes on this subject.

To avoid unnecessary fragmentation and the possibility of MTU related blackholes, MTU 1500 is ideal. If your system doesn't support RFC 4638, MTU 1492 is the maximum achievable and the next best thing.

Been trying to setup a third installation with the same router type, again BT is the ISP, but found the SSD was not appearing in the DHCP or ARP tables so that's going to be a challenge to get to the bottom of that one. Reconnecting the SSD and rebooting the router has not made any difference

I am not alone with SSv3 issues after the BT problem, however my SS does not even power on now! I have read the threads about internal exploding devices and am shocked by this, possibly a combination of both has affected mine?! (VF told me mine stopped working at 2am).

Anyway, I have wasted time doing the trouble shooting guides and suggestions from chat/tech advisors to no avail.

I had a breakthrough yesterday when I contacted VF via landline and was offered a replacement FOC if I took the broken one into store. So off I trotted today only to be told I was wrongly informed at the shop. I phoned VF whilst in store and was again told by the advisor I was wrongly informed! I spoke to a manager who quite frankly couldn't careless even though all my calls had been recorded.

In summary I have been fobbed off, lied to and ignored! VF customer service is terrible and can't be trusted.

Here is a link I would encourage you use.

Lucky for me I am out of contract so can take my business elsewhere!

With another Sure Signal Device issue resolved due to a duff CAT5e cable to the router which when replaced meant I could at last ping the device. I also fould it necessary to turn off DOS defence during configuration process and then back on once the unit had reach the READY stage,

With the Draytek 2860 it is not necessary to open any ports. However their did seem merit in binding the MAC to the IP address.

What I do find frustrating is not being able to find the web page to add/delete user accounts via MyVodfone; anyone with information on that?

What I would like to determine is the probably outcome of any one of these actions with the SSD:

1) Turning the power supply to the SSD off and on again.

2) Holding the reset butting in for 6 seconds

3) Holding the reset butting in for 21 seconds.

4) Asking Vodafone to resync your SSD.

Anyone with answers to that little lot?

Hi everyone,

We're still waiting to hear news from our Specialist team, in relation to a potential issue for BT customers having trouble with their Sure Signal devices.

We understand how frustrating this is and will provide an update as soon as we hear anything.
