Hi,
Just to update, after seeing the comments yesterday about the VSS working for others I done a factory reset and mine has been working since yesterday evening. I had not yet had a chance to change routers. So it's working on my Netgear setup. This was for certain a problem on Vodafone's side then. Hope this lasts..

Hey RDFush,
Thanks for your post.
I've forced a resync of your VSS. Please perform a factory reset as per the below instructions:
Factory Rest your VSS
- Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
- Keeping the reset button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
- Once all the lights come on or flash, release the reset button
- The VSS should come online within the hour
If this fails to spring your VSS into life then please could you post back with the following information?
- Your external IP address
- The results of a speedtest
- The results of a trace route test
How to perform a trace route test
- On a PC click on Start and select Run
- Type CMD into the Run box and hit Enter/OK
- In the black box, type tracert 212.183.133.177 and press Enter
- Paste the output of this command into your reply.
Cheers,
Lee

Strange...the VSS has stopped working since this morning. Back to solid red. I switched it on and off, now the signal light is flashing white and no result. The fun lasted less than 24hours.
One thing for sure, I'm not touching my equipment as it was working fine so this is certainly an issue with Vodafone side.

Hi,
I have had the SS for a few weeks now and at no point have I managed to get it working.
I have religiously trawled through these forum pages in an effort to get the thing working.
The sales guy said just plug it in and you will be able to get a good signal on your phone anywhere around the house.
A simple (In English and Jargon Free) guide to set up and/or a troubleshooying guide would be more suitable than the technoblurb that seems to be lost on the more senior members of this isle.
In a nutshell, there is a steady mains light. The other 2 light flash for a whil at plugin then disappear and that it is. I cant find the SS when I search for new devices and I am beginning to think Ive been scammed.
Is there anywhere on this site a simple easy to understand guide to installation of thi piece of equipment?....
A very frustrated senior just wanting to get a decent phone signal at home.

Got my VSS last Monday, but haven't yet managed to get it working. Can't face the misery of the telephone 'help' line, so posting here instead.
Plugged in, System & Phone lights flashed for about 10 mins, then steady red power light only. After about 5 hours we had a power cut, so rebooted router, did factory reset on VSS and left it running overnight. Internet connection dropped overnight, so did resets on Tuesday morning. Left for 24 hours, red light on, no other lights showing. Wednesday: Rebooted router & VSS, again lights flashed for 10 mins. Away from home for 2 days, back Friday evening, red light still on, no other lights showing. Again, rebooted router & VSS. Saturday morning, still nothing happening.
Using "Angry IP Scanner" software shows me VSS is being assigned an IP address via DHCP, and ports 8,50,123,500,4500 are open. Network connection looks good, VSS power & network lights are on.

Incidentally, when I registered the VSS, my postcode gave an address about 100km from where I actually live. Tried postcode both with and without space (EX31 4HN) - this gives address of Metcombe, Ottery St Mary (South East Devon), but I live in North West Devon.

Hi
The location change was probably me hitting ok instead of cancel - didn't actually change location details though
Tried the reset and still not working - same problem, After it goes through the 4 lights once light 4 flashes for a while then stops leaving only light 1 on.
Application settings for BT Infinity attached.

Hi NickPKK,
Everything is fine with the setup here.
However, please can you also try the following and let me know how you get on.
Log into the admin page for their router
Find the location of the MTU field. This varies depending on the make and model of the router so you may need to hunt around for the page that contains this field
Set the MTU size to 1500.
Log out of the router, this will normally cause the router to reboot.
Perform hard rest of the VSS unit by
- Hold in the reset button until all the light go solid
- Pull the power lead out with the reset button still pushed in
- Continue to hold down the reset button and reconnect the power lead
- Wait for all of the lights to come on the release the reset button
The VSS will now try to contact the network and download its profile. This may take anything up to 4 hours.

Hi,
Need some help please. The VSS seems to time out after a day or so. It works fine for 2-3 days and then back to red light only. I just switch it off and back on, it starts working as normal again....only for the same red light only mode that comes on after a few days.
Why is this happening?
Thanks

I have just changed my old router with a Draytek 120 and Apple Airport Extreme. I have set up the Suresignal with a static IP and have forwarded ports 50, 500, 4500, 8, 123 to this IP.
If I reset the suresignal then I now get power light on and both the other two lights flash for 5 minutes or so before going out. I really do no want to have to change the Draytek as it is an elegant solution that works really well for us, except the loss of the VSS.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
My Sure Signal worked very well in the last 2 months. I had it switched off for the last 2 days and now, only the power light is on (after flashing of both lights for a while). Broadband is working fine, I have reset Sure Signal but no success. Can I get some help please. I am working from home and therefore need the box to work.
Thanks
Natascha

I live in Mid Devon and my SureSignal box went down at around 11.00am today and has not come back.
As I need this for my work mobile can anyone post if this is due to maintenance being carried out?
I have the power on but no lights. If you turn the box on and off or reset it, it flashes as though resetting itself but then all lights, aside from the power light, go off completely.

Hey guys,
Many thanks to you all for your posts.
@ notsosure - Have a read through this thread for me. There are a few other users who are experiencing the same symptoms as you are seeing. So far we've been unable to replicate the issue but more contributions will add weight to me being able to get this raised.
@ Kasalic - If the only factor that has changed is your router then this can be the only reason for the change in status. If you could supply me with your VSS serial number then I'll be able to force a resync of your unit to see if this kicks the communication between the two devices into life.
@ NS4 - I'll also need your VSS serial number to see if I can see what's going on. Out of interest, has anything changed at your end? Sometimes if there has been a network upgrade or firmware upgrade from your ISP then this can put the synchronisation out and the VSS serial number will help me immensely.
@ blockostar1 - The maintenance we are undertaking is being done overnight, as per my posts here. It is therefore unlikely that this has caused your device to stop emitting a signal to your phones. Once again your serial number will help me to help you.
Cheers,
Lee

Hi Kasalic
Thanks for coming back to us here.
I have now performed the resynchronisation of your device. Can you please also perform a factory reset on the device?
To do this;
VSS Factory Reset
- Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
- Keeping the rest button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
- Once all the lights come on or flash, release the reset button
- The VSS should come online within the hour
Thanks
Wayne
If you have a spare minute could you please take the time to fill out a short feedback form about me?
You can do so here

Hi,
I haven't had SureSignal working since February... possibly before that. The original diagnosis was there was a problem with my old SureSignal as the Ethernet lights were dead... I received a replacement (new model) and updated the serial number at registration. This one is presumably better as the ethernet lights are now working.
But basically, it's just a doorstop... doesn't do anything. I have just the red power light and the aforementioned ethernet lights in back.
I've been through the troubleshooting and none of it has helped... I've also been on phone with Vodafone support and they went through my configuration and redownloaded(?) but nothing's made any difference.
My ISP has said it may be an issue with my external IP address? They suggest I contact you folks to ensure my IP address ie whitelisted. So far that's the only thing I think hasn't been checked and the failure may (I'm not positive) date back to when my IP address changed quite some months ago.
My IP address is fixed... 91.226.206.99
My Suresignal only has steady power light and the two Ethernet lights in the back.
My SureSignal is the new model...
Alcatel-lucent
9361 Home Cell V2-V
part 3JR09110ABBA
serial 40120258393
MAC 0C4C3902B02
My router has the MAC address of the VSS mapped to an internal IP address (192.168.2.210) and I can ping that address so the box is on my network. My router is forwarding traffic for ports 8, 50, 123, 500, 4500, and 1723 to the VSS.
Could someone help me get my SureSignal working? And is my external IP address ok?
Thanks!
Steve Turczyn

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone from VF can feed this back. I'm a tad disappointed to discover that having purchased a SS box that it is incompatible with my D-Link Router, surely the VF shops should be telling customers that the box can't be used with all Routers and isn't "simple to install and use and is plug and play" as we were told in the VF shop in Stirling.
Now waiting to see if my ISP will replace router...here's hoping.
