Hello,
We've got a New Sure Signal, which worked well for months, and now hasn't worked for months. Your online helpchat people tried to fix it a month or so ago, but to no avail. I've tried everything I can in your troubleshooting guide, but we still get the red power light only, and nothing else. All the numbers and letters you say I should try to sort out in the troubleshooting match - it's just not working.
The serial number of the Sure Signal device is 40112853300.
Our internet is BT Infinity, through a Home Hub 3 and a BT OpenReach router (Huawei EchoLife HG612). Our typical broadband speed is over 30Mb/s.
I hope you can advise what to do - thanks in advance for your support.

Hi guys,
sturczyn - I've requested the IP address you've given to be added to the whitelist. We'll let you know as soon as we get a response.
----------------------------
ShoreSignal - I've performed a re-sync for you. Can you give the Sure Signal a factory reset for me to see if this clears the issue?
- Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
- Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead.
- Once all lights display release the reset button.
- The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.
----------------------------
iainmcr - We cannot guarantee the Sure Signal will work for every router due to the variety of third party devices out there, but we have seen a large number proven to work with the Sure Signal box.
Can you confirm the model of your router for me? It is possible that we or one of the many users on here have seen confirmation of how this can be set up to work with the Sure Signal.
----------------------------
a1h - Can you confirm the serial number of the Sure Signal for me?
----------------------------
nickyandrob - As with ShoreSignal, I've performed a resync, so can you follow the steps I posted above for a reset as well?
If this doesn't sort it, can you confirm your IP address for me so we can check that this has not changed or been removed from the whitelist when the issue started?

Afternoon,
I have recently purchased Sure Signal Booster 2 and it is having the problem with the steady power light on only. I have tried all the steps above and the unit flashes with the phone and signal light on for 10 minutes after turning on before eventually just the power light remains on. Details requested are below:-
- I have Sky Broadband with a Sagem router - Serial Number LK10110DP511224
- Sure Signal Serial Number - 40114277532
- My IP address is 176.251.121.71 and the provider is Sky
Please can you assist me with this ASAP and let me know if you need any further information at this point.
Many Thanks,
Dan
If you have successfully followed all of the above, or are struggling with configuring your Router, please post your Router's make and full model number below. It would also be helpful to include your Sure Signal Serial number and ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Hi
Couldn't find any MTU setting that I could change so contacted BT. They said the following
"The default MTU value for the Business Hub 3 is 1500 (as with the Business Hubs), and you are not able to change this within the router currently. There is a new version of the router firmware currently under development that will let this be changed once it is released.
I believe Sure Signal operates over a VPN connection, so the IPSec-IKE port rule for this needs to be enabled You need to enable the IPSec-IKE pre-defined port rule.
1. Access the GUI via http://btbusinesshub.home
2. Select Settings.
3. When prompted, enter the admin password and click OK Click on Port Forwarding
4. Select the required rule: IPSec-IKE from the Game or Application drop down
5. Select the the Device drop down that the port needs added to
6. Click Add"
So they are saying it is set to 1500 already and I have completed the IPSec changes as described above. I then did the hard reset of the Sure Sugnal device but still no joy (reset was over 24 hours ago). Exactly trhe sme symptoms prevail i.e. light 1 is on, lights 2,3,4 sequence, light 4 flashs a few times, then left with light 1 on only

James (or whoever at the tech team). This is a follow on to my last post (no. 918) but a separate matter. We have put a VSS box into our SHeffield office (small serviced accommodation) but we've had the box now for about 6 weeks and as yet it has still not configured. Just a steady flashing light. I don't know whether its a problem with the internet set up there (as said its a serviced office), but there is good broadband connection and speed. Can you check at your end to see if the box is correctly registered etc? The serial number for this box is 40120255720. Thanks.

Hey guys,
Thanks to you all for your posts. I'll address each of you in turn.
@ danlever999 - I can see your VSS is registered though so far it's not been able to connect to our servers. The IP you have provided is on our whitelist so I can assure you this is not the issue. I have forced a resync to see if this gives the system a kick into life.
I will need for you to perform a couple of checks for me to be able to see what's going on.
a) Traceroute (details of how to do this are at the bottom of my post)
b) Factory reset, again at the bottom of my post ![]()
c) Try the device on an alternate connection such as a friend's or relative's line. If the issue remains then it's likely that the VSS unit is faulty. Let me know how this test works out.
@ chappers75 - you're VSS has also never connected to our servers. I've also forced a resync for you. Could you also provide the information I've asked of danlever999?
@ pembsgtr - Thanks for the Traceroute. Everything looks fine as far as I can tell. Hop 11 is high but within the parameters so shouldn't be an issue. The IP address is showing as 'invalid'. Could you double check it for me at this link and paste the results?
I've also forced a resync for you and need you to factory reset the device for me.
@ nickyandrob - You're VSS hasn't connected to our servers in just under two months. I can see that my colleagues have forced resyncs in the past week or so. Did you factory reset after the resync was performed?
The IP isn't the issue here as it's showing on our whitelist. Have you tried to reset your router and VSS at the same time? Sometimes this can help regain a connection ![]()
@ NickPKK - Could you also try the VSS on another connection and let me know how you get on?
@ pcumberlidge - everything looks fine. I can see it connected to our servers this morning at 02:09. Is this still an issue for you?
@ realdannys - What is your external IP address please?
Trace Route Test
- On a PC click on Start and select Run
- Type CMD into the Run box and hit enter/ok
- In the black box, type tracert 212.183.133.177 and press enter
- Paste the output of this command into your reply
Factory Reset
- Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
- Keeping the rest button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
- Once all the lights come on or flash, release the reset button
- The VSS should come online within the hour
Cheers,
Lee

Lee,
Its currently 2.30.226.175
Its a dynamic IP though so if we disconnect and reconnect its going to change, but its been up for 3 weeks or more without change at the moment so should be ok.
All other information from a few pages ago...
Specs first.
Orange Broadband (5.5meg down, 0.7mb up)
Netgear DGN1000 Router
Originally ran a Suresignal 1 with the same problem but this week bought a SureSignal 2 hoping it would fix it
Serial number: 40120248428
As per the title topic, only getting red light with no other lights on box (same thing - or eqivlent, with Sure Signal 1 which we figured was broken)
The original SureSignal worked fine for a couple of years on our diabolical o2 connection which wasn't ADSL2+ and had so much packet loss i was impossible to stream anything. We upgraded to Orange LLC about a 6-7 months ago for twice as fast up and down speed and importantly a solid stable connection without packet loss.
Now Im assuming my issues are occuring because of Orange broadband and/or the Orange Netgear router.
The Suresignal is only one of two devices connected to the router. Ive troubleshooted every problem in the intro. It just refuses to connected.
Ive tried deactivating and reactivating on the account yesterday, factory reset the suresignal 2 again and left it 24 hours nothing.
unPNP is working on my router, but I forwarded ports correctly for the suresignal anyway, im sure it worked when we first transfered to Orange for a while so I have no idea whats changed. Ive even tried putting the SureSignal as the DMZ device so nothing can block it totally rulling out anything the router/firewall could do and still it wont connect.
Im totally out of ideas, there cannot be a problem our end and its unlikely there is something wrong with the suresignal box, there must be an issue with you allowing my IP to connect ot the servers or something similar. I found a thread about Orange IPs but noticed near the end you had added my IP range to the white list and this fixed it for everyone in the thread, but not for me.
Theres obviously something seriously wrong here but im hoping we can get to the bottom of it and we can start using this device aagain as we dont even get a basic phone signal at home.
Just wanted to add these details to save time too.
SpeedTest.net.
Png 36ms
Down: 5.5mb
Up: 0.61mb
Pingtest:
(packet loss tests refuse to run on this site for some reason...perhaps that is a traceroute issue too? I can tell you there is no packetloss on the connection through via other tests ive run in the past and via the work I do)
Ping: 59ms
Jitter: 9ms

ISP: BT Infinity2 FTTC
Router: Bt HomeHub3
VSS serial: 40120922279
I've switched ISP from BE to BT.
Stuff I've done:
1. Add port forwarding rules to the router
2. Looked for IP whitelisting in the router - no option, and not turning the filewall off
3. Rebooted the router
4. Factory reset the VSS
5. Waited a couple of hours
Power light only.
Is there anything that I'm missing specific to the HomeHub3 on BT Infinity FTTC?

I set up this 4 days ago and it has not worked yet!
The VSS dashboard shows that the registraction is correct and active:
Serial Number * 40121003954
Status active
Location Postcode CB22 3AT
Date of registration 30/04/2012 09:13:15
I have checked that the VSS has an IP address and that is appears on the network or at least a device with the correct MAC address is on the network. I have set up the UPnP as described on the forum, rebooted the VSS sevreral times, performed a factory reboot and rebooted the router as well.
I have run trace route as well and I do not seem to be able to get to a Vodafone server though?
