Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi benj, any news on my unit, you said last week that the serial number was under investigation. I still only have a solid red light.

Thanks

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hey Glynwest,

I've also just forced a resync on your unit.

Please let me know how that works and if service is no better in 24 hours, try a factory reset for me.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi Digicom

Glad its now up and running!  You seem to have had alot of problems with your Sure Signal, which all  pont to problems with the actual line.

Can you let me know if this goes down again just so we can check our side.

Thanks

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi

I've recently bought a new Sure Signal to install in my home office.  We currently have an old model installed providing 3G, but this does not extend to my outside office.

Since installing and registering all I get is the solid power light, the first symbol flashes for about 10 minutes then goes out.

I've followed the troubleshooting steps - the DHCP is enabled and I've reconfigured it to allow port-forwarding. Still nothing.

As my phone is on a corporate account my internal account manager advised me that it could be this unit so I have exchanged it and received a new one this morning.  She concluded this as I moved it to the router where our existing Sure Signal works without result and also because our head office runs 3G off Sure Signal on the same model router as mine without any problems.  I received my new unit this morning and so far - after 3.5 hours still nothing.

Having read the thread I understand there are issues with certain serial numbers - could this be my problem?

Router - Linksys AG241

Serial No. 40111328004

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi EMWood,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :smileyhappy:.

The serial number you've provided doesn't appear to be registered correctly. As you're on a Corporate Account, I'd recommend checking with the account manager that this is registered.

Kind Regards,

George

Hi EMWood,

I've just forced a resync on that serial number. Ideally you should be back up and running within 24 hours. If not, try a factory reset.

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi EMWood,

I'm afraid the resync hasn't worked. I keep getting a timeout error on the tool I'm using.

I'll keep trying to force the resync till I finish at 10. If I get it to go through, I'll update the thread accordingly.

I'm back in at 10am tomorrow too, so if it's not forced by the end of my shift, I can keep trying.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi

Trying to set this up.

The system/phone lights flash, internet goes down.  I can only get the internet connection back by encountering the Sure Signal and rebooting my Router.

I have a Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless G-Route Model # F5D7632-4 ver 1000k.

I have checked that DHCP is enabled and enabled UPnP.

I am struggling on the manual configuration ... I think I managed to forward Ports BUT list on you site doesn't match list on  http://portforward so not sure?

Help, please?

Thanks

PS When I first tried again this evening (having waited 24 hours since first attempts) - the system light stayed on (or else I was just losing it in frustration) but I can't reproduce this now.

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi to you all.

This is my first 'visit' to this forum, having recently bought a VSS from my local Voda shop (Southport). The first unit I bought did exactly what this forum thread is all about - steady power light on. It never did actually work. I contacted SKY - they did what they could but basically and carefully suggested that the fault must lie with Vodafone. After getting sick of seeing the same problem (steady power light) - and after speaking with the usual off-shore Voda technical staff who couldn't force a reset - I took it back to the shop. They replaced it without question / quibble.

I brought the new one home - installed it and it worked fine. It actually delivers HSDPA internet connect to my HDC Sensation - making the phone CONSIDERABLY faster than my PC at home!! In other words - all worked better than expected.

Then - a few days later - steady power light - no connection. I therefore checked the router's connection to the internet - I basically log-in to this web site (Vodafone) and then log-in to my own account. in other words - the Router works!! I then re-contacted SKY - they were adamant it's ALL down to Voda - stating quite categorically that there's no reason that the VSS shouldn't work. I switched off my second VSS (serial No. 40111049413) and switched it back on after about 5 mins. It sparked into life and has now been perfectly for the past 4 hours.

It could also be said that:

1. The first one I bought was confirmed inoperative from the word 'go'. This was confirmed by Voda (off-shore) tech advisors. SKY were adamant it was not their router, previously to the Voda diagnosis.

2. I got the new one. My router 'let it through' (therefore the router works!). The VSS then went to 'steady power light only' after a few days.

3. I forced a re-start AFTER - SKY stated it wasn't their Router (tend to agree) and I suspecty that the VSS isn't that good at holding its connection.

It's now working perfectly (for the time being) with the amazing HSDPA Internet connection.

After reading all the stuff on this thread - I'm afraid I'm convinced that this is a Voda problem. There's all sorts of tech talk on tis thread which, to be very honest - is beyond 'anorak' level!!

I would have thought it painfully obvious that the MANY reported faults with the VSS on this site / thread (there must be so many more people who have one who aren't aware of this forum) - lies very firmly with Vodafone.

To the guys from Voda who answer the queries on here - fair play gents, well done BUT - PLEASE - let's have the faults at Voda , with the VSS sorted - and sorted SOON eh?

Mike

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

I'm not having any luck getting my SS box working.  It has a steady power light but nothing else.  I have set one up at home and although it took a little time to work it is now working fine.  My second box, at work, is the problem.  We have a Draytek Vigor 2600 plus router.  It has 4 ports on the back and I've tried all of them!  Might there be a problem with the actual SS box or can you tell me what I should try next please.  I am not in IT so plain speaking instructions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kate

New router DHCP not assigning ip address to SS-V2

[ Edited ]

I know your sticky says "Wait 24 hours" but if the SS is not even showing up in the router's DHCP table ..... is VPN connection ever going to happen?

I assume the SS should be given an ip address *before* VPN connection is established.

SS-V2 (Serial 40111115420) was working happily until I changed my router.

(my BT Home Hub 2 was upgraded to new model 3, firmware essentially the same except has Extended UPnP security).

All other Ethernet- and Wireless-connected devices connect to new router but SS never gets allocated an ip address.

(Thus port forwarding not possible until device)

This is what I did:

________________

Traceroute is good (<50ms)

Router rebooted.

SS reset button held on for 30 seconds during power up

Extended UPnP security set off / on no difference.

Port Clamping set on. (sets the Internet key exchange to UDP port 500)

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Just back from my 2 weeks away, and still no joy with my SS. Any ideas what to do now. Do I de register and start again ? If this is the way to go how do I do this.

This is my last try I think otherwise I guess I'll have to move to a different provider.

Cheers

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi there kjf,

Many thanks for your post. I can imagine this to be very frustrating for you.

Could you read the very first post in this thread and try the troubleshooting steps contained within? Once you've tried everything, please can you let me know how you get on?

Cheers,

Lee
