Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for all of your posts here, I’m sorry it has taken such a long time for us to respond however we have been a lot busier than normal as of late.

Taverhamhall – I have sent you the email again this morning, please reply with the details and we will be able to chase this up for you.

RJ991 – It sounds like we need to re sync your sure signal, please can you post us the Sure signal serial number and we can take a look at this for you.

Digicom - I can see that your issue is now resolved, if you have any issues please let me know.

Hillswickgraham – We have taken a look at the sure signal for you and it seems to be an issue with the box connecting to your router as we are seeing a download link speed of 0kbs.

Please can you do a reset on your router and also perform a speed check for me to help us identify where the issue lies.

I can see that you are also using an older version of SIM card which could cause issues in the future once the box is back up and running.

Skudmissile – I can see that your Sure Signal has connected to our server yesterday, can you confirm if you are still having issues with the Sure Signal?

If you are please can you let me know what Light sequence you have on your box.

Londonnutter - I can see that your issue is now resolved, if you have any issues please let me know.

Ellioted – I can see that your Sure signal is registered however it is yet to make any connection to the Sure Signal server.

To resolve this please can you try;

A speed test,

let me know your current IP address. This can be found here,

Reboot your Router / Modem,

Manually configure your Router to allow port-forwarding.

In most cases, routers support a system called "Universal Plug-n-Play" or UPnP, which will setup port-forwarding for you automatically. If you have a complicated network setup, or a complex router, you may be required to enter these settings in manually.

The following details list the IP addresses and Port Numbers that need to be forwarded to your Sure Signal's internal IP address. For detailed instructions on how to do this, we recommend either contacting your ISP or Router Manufacturer, or referring to the Default Guide for your particular make and model, over at http://portforward.com

Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26

Ports and Protocols:
Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP

Port 8 - TCP/IP

Please note that in the above list of IP addresses, the notation "212.183.131.128/26" means the complete range of IP addresses between 212.183.131.128 and 212.183.131.191

Your Router will also need to be able to assign the Sure Signal with a DNS Server address via DHCP.

Give this a go and let me know how you get on.

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi Team

Im in the same position, only one steady power light, no other activity.

My serial number is40113301697 and I have opened up the ports on my BT Home Hub 2.

As the Vodafone signal is really poor in this area, getting VSS up and running quickly will be a god send!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

[ Edited ]

Hi, please help

SureSignal S/N: 40114270156

New user an pretty novice. Followed the installation guide, all lights on at the cables and the SS box powered up and red light on solid with flashing system and phone lights for around 5 minutes or so.

Nothing happened after that and now only the solid red power light.

I am not too technical when it comes to the forwarding of ports etc, thus following the guide for port setting is difficult for me.

Router is a D-Link DIR-615. The guide for my router says its a DIR-615 yet photos refer to a DIR-625 which does not show the VIRTUL SERVER LIST after pressing the ADVANCED TAB, all I get once that is pressed is ADVANCED PORT FORWARDING RULES

Now the BroadBand speed is not an issue. 50Mb Cable Fibre Optic line thorugh Virgin Media - see speedtest.net result

SpeedTest Link

I am kind of at a loss. Very poor signal in this area and as a business user with 3 lines at present all at same location its becoming an issue now.

Please advise with urgency, I am sure it will be the port thing, I just dont know how to change it on the router as the instructions are not for my model of router as selected.

Thanks

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Ive purchased a sure signal today and have been trying to set it up on my university ResNet connection, at the moment all I have is a steady red light. Ive been through all the registration progress and on my dashboard it says that my SS is active. Has anyone had any success in setting one up on a uni network before or am I best to return it?

Thanks

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi all just to update It now appears that all is working. Not sure if someone from Vodafone did something or not but about 20 minutes after I posted the message the box reset and started to go through the motions again. Maybe there was just a delay between being activated and setting things up. Anyway it all seems to be working fine. It will be interesting to see how it operates on the iPhone 4 here and the iPhone 3GS, and the iPhone 3G and the Blackberry 8900 with the conflicting reports on the iPhone 4 At the moment though all is well and maxed 3G signal. Happier Days :smileyhappy:

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

@Steve17 - Give it a few hours. Had same issue with mine albeit a different setup from yours I found that same scenario. SS stated as being active but only the solid light. 3 hours later it's sorted itself out and I didn't have to go messing with ports etc after all.

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I bought the Sure Signal a week or so ago and it's not worked from the off. The router I had had a very complicated port forwarding system and as its very old and no longer has support from the manufacturers I bought a new one.

Since fitting it this evening I have confirmed that I have internet access.

All network lights are as they should be on the unit.

I have carried out the Static IP address using the Portforwading software.

I have carried out the port forwarding additions to my router.

I have re-booted the router.

I have re-booted the Sure Signal.

DHCP is enable

UPnP is enable

I have de-registered then re-registered the Sure Signal with Vodafone.

Still white lights flash for a couple of minutes then red light only steady.

Speed Test resullts are: Ping 66ms, Download 5.12mbps, Upload 0.38mbps

External IP addres: 87.113.171.154

Sure Signal Serial No.: 40113168906

ZyXEL P-660HN N1Z N300 Router

No 3G signal at all and very little 2G signal.

Im not sure I've completed the Port Forwarding correctly as I can't work out where the IP addresses on the first post are supposed to go:

Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26

I followed the portforwarding process but the IP address I put in was 192.168.1.150. Is that the right one or should I be using one of the above?

I would appreciate any help in getting this sorted.

Regards

Toby

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Hi guys,

ElectricMayhem, can you check on your broadband upload speed via the following link. If it is below 350KB/Sec then you may encounter issues due to insufficient bandwidth. If this is over 350KB/Sec then please perform a factory reset by holding in the reset button with a pin for 30 seconds until the lights flash again. Please ensure you leave it 24 hours after doing so. Let me know how you get on.

Steve17, due to the lack of router accessibility and firewall settings on university internet connections, the Sure Signal can often struggle to work with them. If it hasn't started working after 24 hours, I'd recommend speaking with the network administrator to see if this will be compatible or not.

TobyH, are you still experiencing issues? It's likely that your Sure Signal may have just needed to wait overnight to complete the setup. If you're still having issues then please use the factory reset steps I've posted above.

stephenp47, have you tried all of the troubleshooting steps above?

Kind Regards,

George.

Is there anything more you can do for me?  If not then sadly I must return the Sure Signal as it is of no use to me.

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

George,

Unfortunately it's still not working. I've just done a factory reset on the unit, but it still comes up with flashing lights leading to solid power light.

Does it need resetting at your end?

Could you answer the question regarding the port forwarding IP addresses.

Regards

Toby

Re: New Sure Signal - Steady Power Light Only

Just done another check on the router settings and it looks like firstly the DHCP client list includes the Sure Signal with a valid IP address, I also have UPnP activated and therefore shouldn't need to go down the port forwadrding route.

As the port forwarding didn't make any difference I have turned that back off to standard.

The router is clearly seeing the sure signal, and internet acces is fine.

I'm getting fed up of waiting for a reply and even when I do it's of no help. What a waste of time an effort. Expected more from vodafone....

Hi

I have had the suresignal for a few weeks now and it has not worked yet. My router is a Bt Voyager 190ADSL.  Can you please advise what I need to do as I am currently getting no benefit from it.

Thank you in advance.
