Hi hope someone can help me, Ive had a non working sure signal box for a few weeks now, contacted 191ss team 2 which didn't help matters, Im on my replacement ss2 box now which i have registered sucessfully and its been over 24 hrs and still the same as b4. Ive just got the steady red light on, the other 2 lights come on for 10 mins and then go off, no furthur action noted.
Ive been through the troubleshooting with ss team 2 and they opened the necessary ports and checked my router settings were all correct, the router does see the ss box and does assign it a ip address. The ss team came to the conclusion that it must be a faulty ss box, thats why a replacement was send , so im a bit stuck now, Below are what the sure team have checked, can you double check it again and let me know what i can do next.
Serial no of new current box : 40114678127

five hours later....
opened the damn ports, set the firewall - red light
even tried forcing it through dmz - red light
tracert stops at vodafone in the same way everyone elses does
resets galore
read about everything there is to read here and online
some people have seemingly made it work with the same equipment and settings, but there is no consistent fix.
so have come to the conclusion that it has to be the IP whitelist at Vodafone's end.
This problem has been obviously been apparent for a while, so PLEASE could a vodafone rep just give out the right advice, rather than wasting everyone's time suggesting long winded and complex fixes that do not work.
or alternatively, make a product that plugs and plays out of the box and works with all routers (as per the advertising).
my IP is on my previous posts - please whitelist it and let me know when it's done.

So I move my contract over to Vodafone with the promise of being able to get a signal at my house… guess what no signal.
So im sold at my own expense this wonderful sure signal box, that turns out to be the most useless piece of junk I have ever encountered in my life.
Simply take it out the box, plug it in and off you go within 2 hours…. Yeah right!!!
So 7 days on 2 boxes later also speaking to endless people on the phone and reading what feels like every forum and web page that Google brings up about sure signal. My plastic box still doesn’t work.
Im sick to the back teeth of ringing Vodafone, ive spent more time calling you in 7 days than I have called O2 in the 12 years I was with them!
Please get you act together and get our sure signal boxes working!

Received mine a few days ago and have been trying to set it up since then.
Serial number is 40114611052
ISP is Virgin Media
Router is a Netgear WGT624 v3
VSS was set up by Vodafone and I can only assume that it was activated properly.
I have set the port forwarding as per Port Forward.com but still only get a solid power light. When I power the VSS up it goes through the flashing configuration but when it finishes all i get is the power light.
Have tried pinging vodafone IP but it times out so it appears that the VSS cant connect to Vodafone. If I have set everything up prperly at my end - can you help me out at Vodafone's end?

James wrote:Hi Guys,
Many thanks for getting back to me.
I have been speaking to our support teams regarding this for you and we both believe that there could be two issues in this thread.
The first issue could be an outage effecting certain customers and the second is the issue with the IP white list.
From the traceroutes that have been posted on here I can see that it is pinging our server (85.205.116.6 but going no further which would indicate an issue with the IP being blocked.
So we can get this fully raised with as many examples as possible please can you post below me with the following information only;
Your Sure Signal Version
Your Sure Signal Serial Number:
Your IP address (this can be obtained from here)
Many thanks for you support and cooperation as together I’m sure we can get this sorted.
James
The worst thing about this problem is the lack of information about what the problem is and when it will be resolved. I'm fine with something not working and it's going to take a week to get someone to fix it, but everyday having to waste my time with what end up as futile efforts at making this box work is rather frustrating and reflecting quite badly on Vodafone.
Don't seem to have had any real progress in the resolution of all our problems following this post yesterday and when I phone up I get charged to be told a different solution that doesn't work every day, each time they're totally adament that their solution will fix the problem as long as I do something that's really technically beyond my capabilities and then wait for another 24 hours.
I would really like you to explain the post above in simple terms for me. Does it mean that there's problems at Vodafones end that needs sorting? If so, can we have some honesty about it and maybe share this with the telephone support guys and gals.
I'll post my details below again and maybe someone can give us some information, at least about when we can have a resolution to the issues or what we need to do to fix the problems ourselves.
Sure Signal Version 2
Serial Number: 40114611946
IP Address: 192.168.2.4
The reason for me getting this Sure Signal was because I'm due for an upgrade on the 3rd Jan and I know I can get better signals from other networks, so this was the clincher for me staying with Vodafone. Unfortunately it's far more effort than it's worth at the moment and if it's not sorted, or any definitive date for when it will be sorted, then it's a no brainer about cancelling my contract unfortunately.
Thanks for reading

Hi Folks,
I have followed all the trouble shooting tips but still get no joy, it would appear I can't get to your gateway, here is the result of a trace route :

The first couple I did were for the full 30 hops but all after hop 9 timed out as above.... I would really appreciate some input, My router is a Netgear DG843G and, according to the log it supports UPnP, It know it has the Sure Signal attached, has issued an IP address and, when I reboot either theere is activity accross the ethernet cable ###### then it stops as the lights go out.
Regards, Pete... Happy New Year!!!

Hi I seem to be having the same problems as every one else. I have a BT Business hub ( which supports vss ) and I contacted their IT support and supplied them with all these technical suggestions from Vodafone. After an hour of manipulating my router they conclude that there was nothing in the router, Ports or otherwise stopping the SS from working. I too have spent far too much time, this Christmas waiting 4 hours 1 hour 24 hours sad though it may seem I am seeing signal lights in my sleep.
My SS is V2
serial number: 40114656453
IP Address: 86.139.216.216.
Please add me to the list

Yet another dissatisfied customer!
I've had an original Access Gateway for ages - it was working fine, (well it was working) until the middle of Dec. Like many others it seems, it died.
Many calls later customer service sent me a new V2. Que lots more calls ...and ... it still doesn't work.
Ports 50 ,500, 4500, 123 and 8 are open.
