Hi our Sure Signal 2 has stopped working.

Symptoms:

When turned on the device both lights flash and then disappear... I've done some diagnostics as requested in other messages..

Any help would be great.

Hi spgennard,

I have tried to check the Sure Signal from this end, however the serial number is not recognised.

Please check the serial number and post back.

Your speeds look fine and the IP address is accepted, although step 13 of the traceroute appears to have timed out.

Please also perform another traceroute.

DaveCD

The number quoted in the txt messages is 40110918386.. do wants its mac address to?

Doing a quick scan of 212.183.133.177 reveals I can access it.. eg:

Nmap scan report for cluster4.vap.vodafone.co.uk (212.183.133.177)

Host is up (0.0063s latency).

Not shown: 997 filtered ports

PORT     STATE SERVICE

21/tcp   open  ftp

554/tcp  open  rtsp

7070/tcp open  realserver

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 4.47 seconds

and a traceroute..

Stephens-MacBook-Pro:~ spg$  traceroute 212.183.133.177

Hi spgennard,

Can you check the ports and make sure that match this:

•8   TCP   UDP   Unassigned
•50  TCP   UDP   Remote Mail Checking Protocol
•53   TCP   UDP   Domain Name System (DNS)
•67   UDP   Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) Server; also used by Dynamic Host  Configuration Protocol (DHCP RX)
•68   UDP   Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) Client; also used by Dynamic Host   Configuration Protocol (DHCP TX)
•123   UDP   Network Time Protocol (NTP)—used for time synchronization
•500   UDP   Internet Security Association and Key Management Protocol   (ISAKMP)
•1723   TCP   UDP   Microsoft Point-to-Point Tunnelling Protocol (PPTP)
•4500   UDP   IPSec NAT Traversal  All Routers
•33434 to 33445   UDP   Traceroute for IP location check and bandwidth estimation

I can see that the Sure Signal has been moved.

When this happens you need to allow 24 hours for it to set up.

If you switch it off, the set up will start again from the beginning.

Thnaks,

Ian

Hi Ian,

The "Sure Signal" has not changed, the only thing that has changes is that I am now on fibre where as previously I was on ADSL but I'm still with the same provider (plus.net)

How would you want me the check the above ports out?

Hi spgennard,

For help with checking your ports, please see here.

If it’s still not connecting after this, please let us know the exact light sequence you’re now seeing.

Thanks,

Gemma
