Sure Signal 3 - No service for 2 weeks - Power Light Flashing

guitarbloke

Please can someone advise?

Power light is flashing and I cannot get a connection at all.

The device was registered with Vodafone on 24/04/13 (serial no 40130443670).  Please could someone take a look and advise?

If it makes any difference, my number was previously registered with a Sure Signal 2 - it's probably still listed with that as well as with the Sure Signal 3 - will it cause this type of problem having my number added to 2 different Sure Signals?

Many thanks

I had an older suresignal and this worked with no issues, the new one I have been sent has a flashing red power light and the phone signal is illuminated orange.

My router is a Thomson TG585 v8

Broadband is normally up to 8mb (I live surrounded by fields of sheep), I usually get up around 6mb but having run the test its running slow at the min

Ping is 58ms

Download was 3mbs

Upload was 0.2mbs

Hi guitarbloke,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Looking at the registration I can see that it’s not yet connected to our server.

Although the traceroute is fine, the light sequence indicates that there has been a problem with the IP address being allocated by the router.

So that we can see what is happening, please can you let me know your external IP address from here.

Also I can see that you upload speed is a little slow at 0.2Mbs as the Sure Signal needs at least 0.3Mbs to work.

Please can you run another speed test and go through these troubleshooting steps.

James

Hi James,

Apologies - how do i find my external IP?

Many thanks

Hey guitarbloke,

You can get your external IP by clicking here.

.

Thanks,

LeeH

Hi,

My apologies for the delay, I've been away for the at couple of weeks.

The whatsmyip website shows my IP address as being :  10.104.124.66,    217.112.150.11,    10.37.44.201

I'm not sure why it shows 3 IP addresses, but hopefully this will help! :smileyhappy:

Hi guitarbloke,

This is strange because it should just show one IP address at the top of the page.

Can you try this again and let me know the result so I can get it checked for you.

James

Hi James,

Still coming up with the same result

I have a feeling that my external IP is the first one - 10.104.124.66.  I'm not sure what the others relate to.  I'm only going into 1 standard router, and neither my router nor anything else at home have changed in recent months.  This is the second Sure Signal box that I've had since the problem started, and both boxes exhibit the same issue.  Very puzzling!

My broadband connection at home works perfectly with my PC, my iPad and my other (non Vodafone mobile)

Hi guitarbloke,

I’ve done some digging around for you and this looks to be a private/internal IP address.

Are you on a company/corporate internet connection?

Also, are you getting the IP address with an active secure (VPN) connection to a work server?

The reason that I ask is that this looks like an internal rather than an external IP address which is what we use to make sure nothing is being blocked.

If the IP address starts with 10, 172 or 192 then this is the internal IP address rather than the external one that we need.

James
