Sure Signal 3 - power on, internet flashing for last 10days

Have had reasonable sure signal (VSS3) connectivity for months. About 10days ago it completly ceased to have any internet connectivity and as such none of our 3 vodafone mobiles work inside the house. SS is a necessity for them to work as our vodafone network coverage where we live is almost nil.

Have reset sure signal box upteen times,

checked ethernet connection good, lights underneath the SS - one solid, the other flashing

rebooted router (not a BT hub)

tried SS in another location in the house - no success.

good internet connection available to laptops etc in the house

contacted vodafone last week who advised its an ISP. ISP advised thats its vodafone.

Bottom line Im very annoyed and frustrated by the lack of answers.

Please Help.

Hi Ibrg9,

Your traceroute is fine but your upload speed needs to be at least 0.33Mbps to work.

You've mentioned the light sequence but not which lights are lit/flashing. Are you seeing a solid power light and a flashing Internet light? If so this would suggest the Sure Signal is initialising but it shouldn't take this long.

Can you deregister the Sure Signal for a few hours and then re-register? Whilst doing this I'd recommend speaking to your ISP regarding your upload speeds.

Let me know how you get on,

Kay

I have spoken to our ISP re the upload speed and they said for the last 3weeks it has always been at approx 0.32 (they have it recorded), so from a my perspective this isnt the problem as it failed completelty Sunday Sept 1.

As per the subject title, the internet light flashes very slowly then stops for awhile and then re-trys. This and the solid red power light are all that display.

Anyway after being totally put off by the whole situation I pulled it out of the wall last night, power and ethernet, as I was sick of watching it hoping it may magically connect. I left it for a few hours and plugged it back in. Still didnt work after about 2hours, however this morning I woke to find my mobile had its 3G connection back.

I have no idea what caused it or what fixed it. And I suspect neither does Vodafone else you would have resolved my problem when I made contact last week. Regardless its working for now but my confidence in this continuing without further incident is not strong.
