Re: Sure Signal Down

I have a weird problem - as soon as my SureSignal is fully up and running, my phone loses its signal. If I power down my VSS, then within moments my phone will associate with a 2G base station somewhere else, and come back to life. Customer Services tell me there's an issue with the VSS system at the moment. Is this correct, and if so, is there an ETA for restoring the service please?

thanks

Richard

Re: Sure Signal Down

My 3GS and 4 don't really "like" my vss1...my BB and Samsung jump from 2/3 bars to full but not iphones - apparently (u know what's coming) iPhones and vss (like many other products) don't mix too well! As to your problem I can't really help, sound like the vss is somehow blocking/interfering with the signal

Re: Sure Signal Down

All resolved now. De- and re-registered VSS and re-registering phone to VSS seems to have sorted it all out.

Re: Sure Signal Down

Hi Lee

I took the SS2 out to my Daughters house plugged it in to her router (thomson Plusnet) and it was working in less than an hour so there is obviously something wrong at my end I am going to get myself a new router and see how that goes I will let you know how this goes in due course.

Re: Sure Signal Down

New router did the trick SS2 is up and running now and so far so good my Belkin router always worked well and never gave me any problems it even worked with SS1 for a long time but SS2 would not connect to it I tried everything but no luck, I purchased a Thomson router (same one my daughter has) got it up and running connected SS2 and it was up and running within the hour I want to thank all you guys for helping me with this and hopefully this will be the last of my problems.

Re: Sure Signal Down

Hi robsimpson,

Thanks for posting the traceroute results - they've given the likely cause straight off the bat.

Looking at steps 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9, there appears to be a significant amount of latency in your connection. This would be affecting the Sure Signal's attempt to speak with our systems and receive a response in the required time to function.

This is likely down to a change made by your ISP as it is the connection itself, not the Sure Signal or the systems it communicates with. To resolve this, you'll need to contact your ISP directly and get them to check for the cause. If you provide the same traceroute results to them, this will help their technicians to pin down what is causing the connection to drag.

Dave

If I've helped at all today, please leave me a little feedback.

Re: Sure Signal Down

Hi  ra0231,

Thanks for your post here.

I have taken a look at your Sure Signal and can see that it last connected to the server on 11th July 2012.

With this type of issue there could be a number or reasons for the Sure signal not working which we will need to look at for you.

To do this please can you confirm that you have been through the relevant troubleshooting guide for the light sequence you are seeing?

Also please can you provide us the results of a speed test and a traceroute and also let me know what your external IP address is.

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run

Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok

A black box will appear.

In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177    press Enter

Paste the output of this command into your reply.

James
