Sure Signal V1 stopped working

Sure Signal has worked OK for several years.  Recently seemed to be eratic, but today stopped working.  Lights 1 & 2 both on and steady after power cycled.

Before recycling power, 2, 3 & 4 were flashing randomly.  High speed broadband working OK.  All connections OK.    I note other users having problems recently.  Server issue?

Hi,

Please take a look through these Sure Signal Trouble Shooting threads :

https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Vodafone-Sure-Signal-troubleshooting/td-p/23917...

as these may help to resolve issues. They have links to the key things you can do to try and self resolve the issue you are experiencing.

It may also be worth trying a different power supply with the SureSignal (Version 1 & 2 ), as there have been some reports of replacement power supplies solving the issues. Even if lights / power are showing. They are available on eBay for around £10.

From member cineriv "But firstly, have a look around for a suitable unit with a 12 Volt output @ around 1.5Amp capacity that you could 'borrow' to prove the fault. Suitable units can be found on external hard drives, monitors, printers, routers etc.etc."

I've already checked those suggestions.  This has happened once before, and it turned out to be a registration problem, BUT light 2 is steady, which implies it is registered OK.  No light 3 or 4 today.  Another user's problem (today) was an error on the server, so I fear it needs to be checked by Vodafone.  There seem to be lots of reports in the last few days.

Seems to be getting worse.  I did another Reset this morning following recommended method, and now light two is flashing all the time.

@Wendycatsaway Sorry to hear about this.

Please let us know the serial number for your Vodafone Sure Signal and we'll take a look from our end.

Hi Rahim,

Serial number is 21224724449

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

It's very likely that your power supply has degraded.

Firstly, try my suggestion as detailed in Band of Brothers post.

New replacements can be obtained from Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 - 12 inc. delivery.

Regards,

Mike.

@Wendycatsaway We can see that your Vodafone Sure Signal has updated on our servers today (14 November 2016).

Were you able to follow the advice @cineriv gave? If not, let us know so that we can help further.

Rahim, yesterday's live chat was frustrating.  Something seemed to be happening by the end of the call (various lights flashing in different combinations), but not down to me doing anything at this end.  The device did not start working though even after 10 hours.  However, acting on one other suggestion on the forum today, I changed the power supply.  This turned out to be the problem, as it has started to work.  Once, during the live chat, I noticed the power light (light 1) go off for a few seconds.  I questioned whether that was down to anything being done from your end.  I got the impression that all the lights may cycle, and that I should wait for it to establish a connection.  If I had been told that this was NOT possible, I would have immediately suspected the power supply.  Anyway, it looks like the problem is solved.  It would really help if live chat calls re this unit could be put straight through to specialists.  Save both parties a LOT of time.
