Sure Signal V2 Netgear Router

I am trying to connect an Iphone 4S to Sure Signal (Alcatel Lucent 9361 V2-V, three lights on unit).  So far I have managed to plug in the Sure Signal and have two solid lights showing power and network.  But the two Iphones in the house resolutely refuse to connect to it.  After some long and difficult calls to Vodafone I have rung my ISP to clear ports (none are blocked), cleared some ports on the modem (Netgear DGN3500) and then followed some instructions about changing to another operator and then switching back to Vodafone, resetting network settings etc., all to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas?  With a standard phone on a standard modem this should surely be really easy?

Thanks for your reply.

I spent a fair amount of time on the troubleshooting  before posting.  Only thing I could not do was try swapping sims to a different smartphone: we don't have one.

These are the results of the tests this morning.

Hi fmacdermot,

Everything looks fine with the registration and the tests that you’ve done.

Is this affecting all of the phones or just the iPhone’s?

If you activate aeroplane mode for 30 seconds and then switch aeroplane mode off, does this pick up the Sure Signal?

As you’re already on the latest firmware, I’d also deregister the Sure Signal and register this again after 24 hours.

James

Thanks for the tips.  Tried both but the SS still resolutely ignores both iPhones.

As I mentioned before, these are the only smart phones in the house.  My Nokia - which I would change for a smartphone if the SS worked - does not have 3G capability so can't use the SS.

Any other ideas?

Hi fmacdermot,

I’ve spoken with our technical support team and they’re pushing through a factory reset for you.

The process can take up to 6 hours to complete.

During this time, don’t reset or unplug the Sure Signal.

After this, if the phones still can’t pick up a signal, try a hard reset.

To do this:

  • Hold down the power button
  • At the same time hold down the ‘Home’ button
  • When the Apple logo appears, release the buttons

Thanks,

Andy

It worked!

The factory reset of the SS did it.  I didn't have to do a hard reset of the iphones.

Thanks very much for your help.
