Solution

Sure Signal V2 not connecting with my phone

SubaruWRX2003
4: Newbie

I noticed that my unit wasn't connecting with my phone. Tried the reset etc and still no change. Yesterday I deregistered it and then register it again. Last evening it was working fine. Come in tonight from work and yet again no connection to my phone. Any ideas?

I've taken a look at the Sure Signal with the serial number provided and everything appears present and correct.

Please take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread. If this doesn’t resolve your query, please post your reply either below, or in the relevant thread, together with the details requested, including the following information:

VSS Traceroute command

  • On a PC:
  • Click on Start and select Run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Speedtest down = 65.76 up = 17.04 down with BT

Pingtest = 8ms 0% packet loss Jitter = 0%

External IP = 31.50.213.161

The red power light is on, so is the signal light. The phone doesn't seem to connect to the Sure Signal automatically, it used to. Sometimes if I make a call from my mobile it seems to connect and the other light comes on that the SS V2 is in use. I do notice that in the morning my phone isn't connected to the SS from being the night before. My phone doesn't get switched off overnight.

@SubaruWRX2003

I've checked the information you've given and can't see any issues on our end.

I've now done a resync of your Sure Signal to see if this resolves the issue. Please reset the Sure Signal and turn your phone on and off before connecting it again.

Hi SubaruWrx2003,

This is a bit of a shot in dark, but if the resync doesn't resolve the issue, it could well be due to a degraded power supply on the Sure Signal.

If you have a similar power supply which you could 'borrow' for testing purposes. The requirements for the power supply are 12 volts @ at least 1.5 Amps with a 2.5mm female connector.

Suitable units may be found on mains powered external hard drives,printers, monitors, etc.

New units can be obtained from Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 - 12 inc.delivery.

Good luck,

Mike.

It only seems to connect if I restart my phone and only sometimes if I make a call, then stop it and then I have full signal. It used to connect automatically every time I came into the house.

Any other ideas?

@SubaruWRX2003 You can try the advice @cineriv previously suggested to see if the connection becomes more stable.

It may also be worth trying a new ethernet cable with the Sure Signal as it could be a loose connection effecting the consistency of the device.

It does look like the power supply. I found one off a BT modem thing that seems to work, still testing it but seems OK for the last 24 hours.
