Sure Signal V2 stopped working

kieronf
4: Newbie

After many months of trouble free use my SS V2 has suddenly stoped working.

All I have now is the red power light and no white lights at the front (and no orange or yellow lights at the rear) or after a reset I have both white lights flash for an extended period, but hten go out and no signal. If I repeat this process every so often I may get the SS work for an hour maximum.

The SS is on 24/7. I have tried the reset, unplugging/ new ethernet cable, new plug on router etc but same problem persists.

Here we go again...............

Hi kieronf,

Thanks for posting your results. The Sure Signal is up to date and last contacted our servers yesterday. Your speedtest, IP details and traceroute are all fine too.

As it's working for an hour or so after a reset, there are two things I'd like to try:

  • Can you pop the Sure Signal in a different location to see if that helps with connectivity to your Homehub router?
  • Can you de-register your Sure Signal via My Vodafone, then register it under the other number you have? Give it an hour, then de-register again and register it back under your number.

Let me know how you get on. :Smiling:

Cheers, Ben

I've had a SS2 for years with the usual problems to begin with, but faultless service up until recently when it simply seems to cut out for no reason. The problem has been highlighted since I upgraded from an iphone 5 to an iphone 6 a few months ago, since when I rarely get more than two out of five in signal strength.

I have tried all of the resets etc (so much so the reset button has broken inside the SS2) - now I resort to turning off at the plug/removing cables etc - all to no avail. I am left with the impression that the SS2 has died and now that a replacement SS2 isn't available I want to buy a SS3 but before I do so I need to know if it is compatible with the iphone6.

As regards the current SS2, there is a yellow light at the back for the ethernet cable, the SS2 has been recognised by my BT Home Hub 4, but still the lights on the front do not come on even when I make a call

Thanks in advance
