Adding a number to the device through the web portal shouldn't have any bearing on the light sequences or if it's connected.

Is the number you are trying to add a Vodafone number? As non-vodafone ones tend to throw up an error.

For the device not connecting, have you enabled the Port Clamping option in the - I think Firewall - settings on the home hub?

Also 'BT Web Address Help' sometimes messes around with VPN connections and the traffic trying to flow through them.

If you have it enabled, you can try disabling from here http://preferences.webaddresshelp.bt.com/selfcare/

Thanks for your help, Yes it is Vodofone numbers i'm trying to add and i've tried a few different numbers but all say the same thing.

Its not actually the home hub we're using, we have a Draytek router as they are a lot better quaility than the BT home hub but i have past your suggestion onto my IT company and they are looking into it.

I tried disabling the BT Web address help but unfortunately this didnt work.

thanks again i'll let you know how we get on

Thanks

In the dreytek you will need to disable the VPN Service for L2TP (and the others if you are not using them) as the router will keep hold of some of the packets instead of passing onto the SS if they are enabled, and thus messing up the conneciton attempts :Smiling:

edit - i've got a 2860 with a suresignal connected, and the only change I had to make was the VPN setting - no port forwarding or DMZ required.

Hi there, I also have a 2860 - please can you confirm which setting you are referring to as there are a few referring to VPN. Thanks.

@SheriffOfNotts

We're unable to advice on other routers, but @grolschuk may be able to shed some light?

You can also find support on how to do this on the Draytek website.

Thanks for the nudge DaveCD, missed this reply yesterday.

The menu you are after should be

VPN and Remote Access -> Access Control

Which should take you to a screen with 4 or so tick boxes labelled

Enable <something> VPN Service.

All the boxes are enabled by default, if you are not using your router for VPN connections elsewhere, untick them all, apply, and reboot.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

Hi @grolschuk, I've turned off all the VPN services, but the after a while the SS stays on red flashing power and orange 2nd and 3rd lights.

Is there anything else you can think of I could try.

Really appreciate your help.

That is all I did to let things through here.

Who's your ISP? I know PlusNet have a cloud/software firewall built into their online web portal that can be turned off.

Have you tried resetting the SS since the VPN services have been disabled? It may be stuck in a confused state

Are you using the draytek as the modem, or are you using the Openreach one?
