Sure Signal V3 line delay and bad call clarity

I have a V£ sure signal running with a BT Home Hub.

My problem is two fold.

1 - There is a bad delay on the line when making calls. Consequently I often end up taling over or being talked over during conversations.

2 - Often the person on the other end of the call complains that I'm breaking up during the coversation even though I can hear them fine.

Here are my download/ upload, ping and trace results

DL = 3.5mbps

Upload = 0.36MBPS

Ping 0.36ms

Hi GarethJones71,

It appears your Sure Signal is running an old version of the software.

Follow these steps to reset and resync the box. This should also pick up the newer software:

  • Unplug the ethernet cable from the Sure Signal
  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button
  • Plug the cable back in
  • Allow around one hour for the Sure Signal to come back online.

I'd also check the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) setting on the router. If it's too low it can lead to a loss of line quality.

If possible, this should be set to 1500.

If it won't go that high, set it to the highest value allowed.
