Re: Sure Signal & BT Infinity

There are known issues with BT infinity, just do a search. I can't get to work with my Draytek router, other have reported the same.

Some people can't get it to work with the BT  kit.

What router are you using?

Re: Sure Signal & BT Infinity

Hi Lewis-brooks

Thank you for your posts and a very warm welcome to the eForum.:smileyhappy:

The VSS2 works well with the equipment supplied by BT, please can you let me know if you are connecting via the Home hub 3 and not directly into the router?

The registration process for the VSS2 can take up to 24 hours whilst this is set up, please can you advise me if you are still experiencing difficulties or if you have now tried using the TP-LINK router you have mentioned.

Many Thanks

Re: Sure Signal & BT Infinity

I have never got any router to work with either the VSS1 or 2. I have tried the BT Fibre Hub (2Wire version) for Business, two different Drayteks and a Netgear. My team and I have tried everything. We have put the VSS into the DMZ and opened all ports. BT still are adamant that the VSS is not guaranteed to work with BT Infinity on PPPoE. The VSS needs a re-design to comply fully with the use of Jumbo packets and MTU negotiation.

I must admit I deal with BT Business TECHDesk helpline. They are sure that, since the VSS does not comply with the UK spec for PPPoE in the UK that it will need a router that allows for the fragmentation of packets. The 2Wire one does not do this but I believe the Huwei (the previous one on BT for BT Retail customers) did.

So, to get it to work you need to be lucky but BT do not guarantee anything.
