Sure Signal and iPhone 5S only 3 bar signal strength

Ndmaynard
4: Newbie

Hi

I have a new iPhone 5S but it only gets 3 (sometimes 2) bars of signal strength.  My old iPhone 4 used to get 5.

In fact I'm not even sure the SS box is making any difference as I get the same number of bars if I turn Wi-Fi off.

Anyone know why this is and what I can do.

Sure signal box has the solid red light and the white left hand button (not the one that normally lights up when making a call).

In fact I've just noticed the other light now doesnt light up when making a call - which I'm guessing is the probelsm.

How do I resolve it???

Hi

Here is the info you need (hopefully!!)

Just so you know I have had to recently re-register the sure signal box to me due to the way Vodafone had to swap my number to the new Vodafone SIM.

I have already gone through the trouble shooting and have tried to reboot the box but it makes no difference.

I have also discovered that I can get full signal strength if I put my phone into and then out of aeroplane mode, but this does not make it autoconnect next time.

Hi Ndmaynard,

I can see the unit has struggled to match your new SIM cards since swapping them over.

I've pushed a resync through manually to sort this. If you reset your Sure Signal and give it an hour before turning the phones off and on, you'll be up and running in no time. :Winking_smiley:

Cheers,

Ben

Thanks. Will do that and see how it goes!!!

Hi

I did the reset and turned it off and then on again after and hour and it all seemed perfect - but it's gone back to normal and I'm only getting 2 maybe 3 bars :smileyfrustrated:.

I can only get full strength by turning aeorplane mode on and off (or by turning the phone totally off and then on again).

What can you suggest now??

Hi Ndmaynard,

If your Sure Signal has 3G coverage, this is working fine.

The call quality won’t differ between two and four bars.

Sometimes turning your phone off and on or going into airplane mode, will update your phone on the network.

Cheers,

Laura

Hi I

How do I know if my SS box has 3G coverage?

Also because the phone won't automatically connect I sometimes dip below 2 bars down to 1 and this does impact greatly on call quality - sometimes to the point that I can use it if I need "guaranteed" signal strength during a call.

I appreciate I can turn the phone on and off or use aeroplane mode to make it connect but why is it not doing it automatically when I am in he house. It's no good to me to keep having to remember to force it to pick up the signal.

This issue has only happened since swapping my number over to my new phone.

What can I do now???

I have just noticed that my daughters iPhone 4S is only getting 1 or 2 bars now instead of the 5 I used to get.
What has gone wrong??
