Sure Signal connected to Sky router problem

Hello eForum,

For the past couple of months I've had a problem with my sure signal not working, originally I thought it was the sure signal box so I've just had it replaced but still no joy. I've read through a couple of threads and it appears that the problem is with the Sky router updates. I've also been through the guides but I don't feel confident enough to try opening ports and port forwarding and hoped you could help me with these technical bits.

Sure signal model number: 931 Home cell V2-V

Serial number 40121420356

Mac@ OC4C39048OFC

I would appreciate your help.

Hi mikea

Thank you for your post and a very warm welcome to the eForum.:smileyhappy:

Unfortunately you will need to contact your router manufacturer regarding opening ports as we are unable to support these, however you may also be able to find further information here.:smileywink:

I can see that you are yet to connect with the device, i’d like to help to resolve this VSS (Vodafone Sure Signal) issue for you, but to do this I will need to take some further information from you.

Can you post the following results to this thread?

 Speedtest and Pingtest

Your IP address.

Traceroute.

  • On a PC / Laptop :
  • Click on Start  and select Run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear.
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177    press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply.

Many Thanks

Hi mikea,

Thanks for the update here.

The speed test that you have given is fine however we require the external IP address rather than the router IP address.

If you open a web page and go to www.whatsmyip.net this will give you your external IP address, once you have this please post it below.

In regards to the traceroute, as you are using an Apple Mac the procedure is slightly different and can be done by following these instructions:

Double click the hard drive icon,

Open the Applications folder

Open the Utilities folder

Open Network Utility

Select the Treceroute tab

Enter 212.183.133.177 in the box

Click Trace

Once completed, please paste the results in your post below.

James

Hi I haven't had any signal now for 5 days -- can you please check the below: Serial no: 40120210618 MAC: 0C4C39020858 Part no: 3JR09110ABBA Many thanks in advance Ben

Finally I have discovered a place to type my question. This really is the most confusing website I have ever known with seemingly hundreds of pages that tell you nothing.

My Sure Signal has stopped working and reading here, it seems that a recent BT upgrade might be the issue. I have spent a long time fruitlessly waiting for Egyptians to send me emails I have no hope of understanding and it is quite clear that the support team people I have spoken to today have not a clue about the problem and how to resolve it.

I do not even know how to start a question of my own on this forum and every step I try to take leads to more passwords and logins. This is beyond crazy hence replying to this in the hope that some kind person will see it and tell me where to send it in what I hope will be a polite manner.

Mr Sure Signal box has stopped functioning. Is there a simple way to check this is the box? Believe me I have tried all the connections and reconnections imagineable. I know about hard resetting now too so let me here something new because I have no signal and thus no business which to me, is etremely important.

I would like to send my thougts to the chairman of Vodafone since he is responsible if customers are not satisfied. It doesn't matter how big the business is, the most important  people are the customers - believe it!
