Sure Signal is draining the Life out of me....Please Tech help

OK,

If you are a vodafone techie, please skip the rant and check my ip in the whitelist or check my boxes serial no for existence on the vodafone system pretty please....

Have had lovely working Sure Signal for months, and it is a truly great system when its working,...( but also had various problems in the past, because we have SKY broadband) so know all the issues inside out, box resets, reboots, bl**dy port forwarding, and the ever usefull, have you checked the troubleshooting guide?....

OK, had to reboot router, and lo and behold Sure Signal stops working, not usually unusual, as with the normal methods it comes up, eventually. This time though ABSO NO GO, I've tried absolutely everything, I'm an engineer, I can do stuff. Port forwarding, static ip, tracert, ping pong, ...yes, yes, the minutes, hours, days are ticking away...yes the lights are still flashing, OH were they static just now, no its a trick of the light, they are still flashing...

So I try de-registering and registering, and then try the online support help with people with unusual names.

I mention a "white list" and they say "what is this white list" it doesnt exist, vodafone does not block any ips, etc, but manage to confirm I am registered now, umm maybe, dont know what to believe.

Ok, amazingly able and helpfull tech person, assuming I've done everything in my power to get my SS working can you please check my serial no: 40112885815
MAC : 50:67:F0:74:C2:4C

external ip :90.2 16.147.202

for existence in VF world.

If you need absolutely any more info please contact me, yes I do make mistakes, but will admit to them.

                Thank you kind Sir/Modom

I dont expect any help anytime this early in the year, but I like surprises.

PS My girlfriend phoned up VF today in desperation, and was eventually told by "support" that the Sure Signal system has been off 3 days at least...today is 3 MAY 2012, can this be true?, and pigs fly...

Time for tea now, while we wait, and wait, and....snooze....

Hi

Can you take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread, and then post back your results if you’re not directed to an existing thread?

Thanks

Matt

Re: Sure Signal is draining the Life out of me....Please Tech help

Mine went off this morning after almost eight months with no problems. I have also followed the troubleshooting guide to the letter. Nothing worked. Called VF and spoke to a very nice young lady who, after a few questions, went away, came back and advised that I had been "re-synced" - all would be well if I stayed connected and waited.

The Suresignal box  (version2) has done its flasing lights routine for the requisite 10 minutes and then all I get left with is the power on light. It is now some eight hours since I called VF and was assured that all would be well soon. Meanwhile, none of my three mobiles will work as we live in an area with virtually no normal signal.

No-one mentioned to me that the Sure Signal is down and it doesn't appear to be flagged as such on this forum. Perhaps someone could advise if this is the case. Thanks

Sure Signal Test message?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I really dont believe the sure signal network is down, but I do believe there is not enough tech help to go around, and maybe there is a huge backlog, reading between the lines.

However I and many others, are sick of being sent from pillar to post, to trying the same ole, same ole methods to get absolutely nowhere, for days on end, when I reckon the fastest way to get a solution, assuming the poor SS user has followed the standard methods a few times is to:

Check they are registered as a SS user on the VF system, be it by serial number/ MAC address/postcode

Check the users external IP is registered on the VF system as "allowed" aka on the whitelist.

But please VF tech help, I know my post has been a bit tongue in cheek, but correct me if I'm wrong.

PS dont try to phone me, as my Sure Signal isnt working........

Re: Sure Signal Test message?

OK,

Thank you someone techie at Vodafone, my Sure Signal is working this morning, after 4 days offline. My flashing lights have stopped.

I conclude that  either the system network has had its recent maintenance schedule completed late, (see official vodafone maintenance post in the eforum), or there is a backlog of ips waiting to be whitelisted.

Anayway, result, and thanks.

Burst into life at 12:32 am. Never touched it my end, so it must have been a VF problem. I really wish they had a page where you could ascertain the status of the service (as most ISP's do) then they wouldn't waste so much of their customer's time and cause as much frustration as is indicated within these forums.
