Sure Signal just exploded!

Had my Sure Signal since Friday, was sitting watching TV when it flashed bright white and made a very loud bang, tripping all the circuit breakers. Nothing was being done to it at the time and nothing was being used though the pass-through plug. Will be going to the Vodafone shop tomorrow but wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience? Will be getting my money back instead of a replacement if that's the case, if we hadn't been here it could have started a fire!

@kazwal

We'll certainly look into this.

Have you emailed our team, as advised @Becca_P?

@kazwal

Can you drop me a pm with your contact details. Please ensure you both take photos of external damage.

I am working directly with West Berkshire Trading Standards who are Vodafone's local authority who have an open investigation into these and collecting details of failures.

Thanks

Hi,

Last night I had a very distressing evening when my Sure signal exploded. I was just about to get up to turn the lamp off when there was a bright orange flash and a very loud bang followed by the tripping of all of my electrics. The device as well as exploding and split open actually detached itself from the socket with the force and cracked down the front. Had I been turning the lamp off at that point I would have received the full brunt of the blast. Living alone with a sick disabled child I was really quite distressed.

I think I am more upset that this has been going on for so long and Vodafone have not acted and recalled the product. What are they waiting for someone to sustain injuries or the house to burn down first?? Has this been in the afternoon tmy daughter could have been sat playing with her dolls house which is in front of the socked.

Hi, Just wanted to add to the forum that my Sure Signal exploded at the weekend. I am so lucky if I had got up to go to bed 30 sec earlier I would have got the full brunt of the blast. As I stood up I saw a bright orange flash followed by a very loud bang. It was so powerful it actually blew the sure signal apart and the back of it away from the socket. It appears black inside. It is only since I have googled it I have found this forum and realised there was a problem with them, why have Vodafone not recalled these??? are we waiting for someone to be seriously injured first??? Totally unacceptable.

Hi

Please post pictures of the damage to your unit,  especially as you say it has blown the back off.

This is important in that Vodafone are claiming that the product failure as safe in the nothing from the inside ends up outside and your experience contradicts this claim.

Please contact Trading Standards and do not let this unit out of your possession for the time being.

Kind Regards

@kazwal

It's disappointing to hear about this and we're glad to hear your okay.

I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.

Once received, a member of the team will be in touch to help.

@kazwal

Please post pictures of your unit..

@Becca_p

Although you've offered sympathy to this customer it is a shame that for over three years Vodafone have refused to take any further action on this device and it's failures which is beyond contempt.

These devices have been reported exploding since 2013 yet still continue to supply them and refuse to resolve this issue.
