Sure Signal keep timing out the data connection, Uplink speed is extremely slow.

Hi,

Recently I noticed some problem with my sure signal.  When I use my phone to browse internet site such as Google play store I keep getting "connection timeout". I did a speed test on my phone it is showing about 1 Mbps downlink but only about 0.01 Mbps uplink.

I did another speed test on my phone using my WiFi connection it is showing 9Mbps downlink and 0.84Mbps uplink so I think my broadband connection is fine.

I tried resetting the sure signal bos many times but that did not fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi eddiechow_uk,

Your broadband upload speed needs to be consistently above 300kbps to allow the Sure Signal to maintain the connection to our servers.

We'll need additional information to investigate further, so can you please take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread. If this doesn’t resolve your query, please post your reply either below, or in the relevant thread, together with the details requested, including the following information.

Your speed test results from here.
Your ping test results from here.
Your external IP address from here.
The results of a traceroute.
Your Sure Signal serial number:

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run
Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
A black box will appear.
In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
Paste the output of this command into your reply.

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi eddiechow_uk,

To be honest with you, the Sure Signal is  mainly designed for voice and text usage rather than data and it is always best to use Wi-Fi when at home for data rather than the Sure Signal.

The only thing that we could suggest for you in these circumstances would be to check the MTU settings in your router admin page to make sure it is set to 1500 or 1492 if this is the highest possible setting.
