Solution

Sure Signal latest version won't register and operate

melager
2: Seeker
2: Seeker

I have gathered the info requested for the following light conditions-

Power - Red - light flashing

Internet light - Not on after flashing slowly for approx 30 seconds after power up

System and User lights - Steady Orange

If you look at my Vodafone Support history you will see that this has been going on for many months and I am now in possession of 2 sure signal devices, neither of which work and are both displaying the same light sequence as described.

I realise that possibly my solution is buried in the the threads already posted, but quite frankly, I don't have the time or technical nohow to spend any more time on this. I am at the point of throwing the lot in the bin and forgetting I havd ever seen Sure Signal.

One last attempt:

Speed : DL 5.8 Mb        UL 0.3 Mb

Ping test :  Line quality - B*       Ping - 67 ms      Jitter - 1 ms      Ext Packet - Unable to test.

Ext I.P. - 92.29.87.249

IPV6 - ::fff:5e1d:57f9

Not sure that the traceroute had finished as it semed to just keep running. I think this was all requested to narrow the search.

Can you shed any SIMPLE light on my next move. I'm in your hands. Kind regards, Mel Ager

Hello Dave. Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I've attempted all of them to no avail. I have tried several times but the unit is still performing in exactly the same way as when I opened dialogue with you. Is this a compatibility issue???? Any further suggestions will be welcome, but something special needs to happen to restore any faith I may have had that theunit will do what I bought it for!!

Kind regards, Mel A.

Hi Mel A,

Thanks for the update. Would you mind posting a fresh set of results so we can se what differences the Talk Talk repairs had?

Compatibility wise it shouldn't be an issue if your speeds are sufficient and there's nothing else blocking the line. We also have hundreds of other Talk Talk customers taking advantage of the service without any issues.

The templates to run the tests in your need them again are in our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread.

Cheers, Ben

Hi melager,

The upload speed is still a little low, but it should be OK as long as there isn't too much demand on the connection.

Now we've sorted the speed, the next most likely issue is with the ports on the router. These should be set automatically, but it looks like they may be in the way.

You'll need to check the following ports are open for forwarding:

  • 8
  • 50
  • 53
  • 67
  • 68
  • 123
  • 500
  • 1723
  •  4500
  •  33434 - 33445

You'll be able to get guidance on how to do this directly from the router manufacturer if needed.

Dave
