Hi dauphin775,
Thanks for the update. Lights 1 and 2 solid means there is a possible ports issue.
I can see it connected to our server this morning and can only assume this is because you reset the device again.
Have you been through the troubleshooting at the start of this very thread?
I've performed a further resync for you. Please could you let me know what happens after you factory reset the box?
Cheers,
Lee

Hi Lee,
Yes, I've been through the troubleshooting so far as relevant. Admittedly I have not changed the ports settings, as the S/S always worked out of the box with my router and network, and as I said has been satisfactory for the past year.
I was not aware that it reconnected for a while earlier today, but then of course I am not checking 24/7. Until I read your message I hadn't done a reset since yesterday or the day before. Presumably it is constantly trying to establish a connection and once in a while it briefly succeeds.
After viewing your message I reset the S/S just now and it quickly came into full operation with lights 1,2 and 4 solid. Light 4 came on around 10.30am. I successfully made a test call using the S/S. But by 10.34 Light 4 had gone out and of course I lost the signal bars on my phone. Again the fact that it will work for short periods, especially after resetting, suggests to me that it's not a ports issue.
I can only suppose that the problem is somewhere down the line between my network and Vodafone; hence my original enquiry focussing on the pathping, traceroute, etc.
I'd be grateful for any more help as I have very little service without the S/S and it's the main reason I'm with Vodafone!
Thanks

Help!!
My SureSignal is driving me nuts.
Bought it in 2009 and it's worked fine until a few months ago when we had several power cuts and problems with our cable modem. Virgin have now, finally, changed the cable modem. But still couldn't get light 2 to come on steady after all the resets and troubleshooting suggestions.
Eventually Vodafone did a resync and light 2 came on steady as did light 4, which then went out, came on, went out etc!
Done pathping but none the wiser, can someone translate and suggest if there is a problem here :-

Hi sami8090,
Thanks for your post here and I’m sorry to see that you are having issues with your Sure Signal.
I have taken a look at your traceroute and can see that there does look like there is an issue on your broadband line as there is a complete packet loss on hops 3,5 and 6 which will prevent the Sure Signal from creating a stable VPN connection and as such it won’t work.
The only thing that I can suggest at this time would be to contact your ISP (internet service provider) to advise them that there is a problem with packet loss and they will then be able to look into this for you.

Folks,
My SS has been fine since November. Stopped working about a fortnight ago. Although it did work for about an hour last night!
I have a solid power light and system light, so all should be well shouldn't it? I have performed a couple of factory resets - no difference.
I don't have another phone I can test the sim in - but then it worked for a bit last night so the phone should be fine.
I hope I have added all the info you'll need for a diagnosis.

DaveCD,
Factory reset done.
After about 25 minutes, power light and system light on and steady.
But phone light doesn't come on when I make a call, and data not available on my phone.
Please advise.

Hi btr2,
We're happy to look into this further for you. I can see the Sure Signal connected last night, but I don't want to assume it's working based on your previous comments.
If you are still having issues, there are a few more things we can check.
- What handset are you trying to connect with? Did anything change on this around the time the issue started, such as a new SIM card?
- Do you know anyone else on Vodafone, such as a close friend or family, who would be able to pop round and try to connect to the Sure Signal?
- What level of 3G do you usually see in the area? Does the handset display show this level of signal or full 3G when in range of the Sure Signal?
- Does the issue persist if you set the handset to 3G only?
- Does the issue persist if you switch off Wi-Fi?
- Can you try leaving the Sure Signal coverage area and starting a call and connecting, then whilst maintaining the call moving into the Sure Signal coverage range and finally ending the call? Following this, does the phone allow a connection with the Sure Signal? If the signal level on the device indicated no Sure Signal connection before, does it show one now?
I'm confident we can get this sorted for you.
Dave
