Re: Sure Signal - Lights 1 and 2 on solid. Light 4 not on at all

I have just recieved my sure call and set up as instructed, however only light 1 and 2 are on. I have a Belkin f5d7632-4 are there any issues with this router or any setting I need to enter? Thanks Susie.

Totally new to this forum but like many having problems.

Lights one and two come on then after about five minutes light 4 flashes a bit and then comes on and then bingo my HTC registers a 3G signal and the third light flashes.

BUT make a phone call and after about 20 seconds it drops the call and lights change to just the first one on. Then after a few seconds light two comes on and light four flashes for about 2-3 minutes then goes solid then after a few minutes the HTC finds 3G again and third light flashes.

BUT then all by itself goes back to light one only then after sew seconds light two comes on and light four flashes for about 2-3 minutes then goes solid then after a few minutes the HTC finds 3G again and third light flashes.

BUT after about 3 minutes all by itself goes back to light one only then after sew seconds light two comes on and light four flashes for about 2-3 minutes then goes solid then after a few minutes the HTC finds 3G again and third light flashes.

So follow all instructions in this thread. 5Mb download and 800kb upload and it says my line is suitable. pathping and it all works although a few milliseconds delays her and there. Reset, hard reset and still the same. Change the cable, try other sockets and still the same.

Help please

Thanks

Has this been fixed - it is exactly what I see, and have run all the checks.

Re: Sure Signal - Lights 1 and 2 on solid. Light 4 keeps going out

Hi tjstevenson,

Thanks for posting, I can understand how frustrating this issue is. The symptoms you're experiencing sound the same as those discussed in a different thread: Sure Signal Resetting.

Basically, it's caused by a duplicate Sure Signal ID being present on the server. In order to fix it, all we need to do is to resync your Sure Signal. If you could provide your Serial Number, then I'll be able to do this for you.

George

It was still cycling as before this morning.

I gave it a hardreset andthere is no change.

I will put the unit in the DMZ on my router, and if you want access to it I can email you the IP address.

Thanks - have replied the day before yesterday. Meanwhile last night I noticed that only the Power light was on - does this mean you can run remote diagnostics?

(It's cycling again this morning).

Re: Sure Signal - Lights 1 and 2 on solid. Light 4 keeps going out

Hi

I have had my suresignal for nearly a year now and it has worked perfectly, (with the occasional disconnection for a couple of hours here and there, but nothing major).

However, as of approx 1week ago it refuses to connect and dish out any signal. I have the Lights 1 & 2 lit solid, and the 4th light will not light up.

Nothing has changed on my network, and my connection to my ISP (Talktalk) is still the same, around 1.5Mbps. I have never had any issues like this up to now.

The suresignal is connected directly to the router. The router is a Draytek Vigor2820n (with the relevant ports forwarded, but it never really needed them because it has UPnP).

I have de-registered the suresignal box via the Vodafone control panel, and reset it using the button on the back. I have since re-registered it and it is showing as being registered, and has the 2 lights lit, but still not showing light 4.

My serial number is #21197071448.

I am able to successfully tracert to the Voda servers etc.

Any help please Vodafone?

Cheers

Re: Sure Signal - Lights 1 and 2 on solid. Light 4 keeps going out

Hi tjstevenson,

We certainly can yes :smileyhappy:

Hi jmonline,

I've just resync'd your Sure Signal box. Could you factory reset and let me know how this recovers?

To factory reset the Sure Signal box:

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds) keeping the reset button held down.
  • Remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Hi richiehicks,

The template should work fine, other customers have emailed using it, I’ve sent you an email with the details on any way.

Thanks

Re: Sure Signal - Lights 1 and 2 on solid. Light 4 keeps going out

Not sure where the mods want me to post so this thread seems to be the closest to my current problem.

firstly my VSS first light was on and second was flashing, Lee one of the mods did a syc and got me to do a reset and wait a hour and all should be fine, its been 3 now and it's still not working.

I currently have the first 2 lights on solid but still no signal, please help.

Re: Lights 1 and 2 only

Hi there davidford56,

The traceroute looks fine and there's no need to see the pathping :smileywink:

Can you let me know your Sure Signal serial number and also the results of a speedtest?

Cheers,

Re: Lights 1 and 2 only

[ Edited ]

My Sure Signal has developed this problem after almost a year of working reasonably well.  I've been working through the troubleshooting guide.

I've done a pathping but the guide isn't clear as to what level of packet loss - if any - is acceptable. Mostly mine shows 0% loss but there are 3 hops with a 2% packet loss (one of these is on the final link to Vodafone) and a couple with a 1% loss.

Is that level of loss acceptable or does it have to be 0% at every stage?

I also understand that the data must not take longer than 240ms to make the round trip, so I assume I add up all the times shown on the pathping?  Mine do come to about 250ms but all the longest ones are way down the line so I can't imagine my ISP is going to be at all interested or able to do anything about it.

On the other hand the total time when I used traceroute instead was 225ms...

Just tried a simple ping of the Vodafone IP address (64.214.144.122) which is the last link in the Pathping and Traceroute chain, and that gives a round trip time of just 21ms, so maybe I'm misunderstanding by taking a ######ulative figure of all the hops in Pathping and Traceroute?  Ping also shows no packet loss.

For goodness sake, isn't your filter taking things to extremes by censoring the alternative word I used for "total"?!
