Hi  - Sure Signal suddenly stopped working.  No lights at all.

Checked power still flowing through plug.

No connectivity lights on ethernet either.  Have tried new ethernet cable in case this had failed. No result.

Have rebooted router.

Hi Sarah,

If your SS is under 2 years old it should still be under warranty and will have to be returned to Vodafone for repair.

If it's more than 2 years old. it can still be repaired by Vodafone but at a cost.

Regards.

Hello.

Please take a look through these Sure Signal Trouble Shooting threads :

https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Vodafone-Sure-Signal-troubleshooting/td-p/23917...

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Troubleshooting-Please-read-before-posting/td-p/...

as these may help to resolve issues. They have links to the key things you can do to try and self resolve the issue you are experiencing.

It may also be worth trying a different power supply with the SureSignal (Version 1 & 2 ), as there have been some reports of replacement power supplies solving the issues. They are available on eBay for around £10.

FAQs : https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Network-and-coverage/Sure-Signal/

To note the Sure Signal Device comes with a 24 month warranty.

Thanks for your post.  Have reset the Sure Signal (Vs 3) a moment ago but with no power light on I don't hold out much hope......

I have checked the threads as posted but one doesn't refer to my situation as there are no lights at all showing.

Hi Sarah,

I think you have mistyped the command  prompt, probably by not putting a space between tracert and 212.

The command should look like this.....

tracert 212.183.133.177

Hope that helps.

Oh yes - you were quite right!  Didn't realise there was a space.  Here is the result

And do you know how much a repair is likely to cost - I think mine is ouside warranty period now.

Sorry for the delay, I had to go away for an hour or so!

I don't know what the cost will be, but If you try live chat  http://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

or speak to a shop, they might give you an idea of how much.

P.S. your Traceroute looks fine.

Regards.

Thanks so much - i will contact them.

Just a sudden thought..... You haven't, by any chance, held the reset button in for 10 seconds or more?  This does result in switching the V3 off .......... It would be nice to think that is your problem!!

For version 3 Sure Signal (the plug in version):

There are 3 stages of use for the reset button as follows:

  • Hold the reset button in for 5 seconds then release. This will result in a reset
  • Holding the button for 10 or more seconds will result in the sure signal being switched off.
  • The device can be turned back on by either pressing the reset button again or unplugging the device for 30 seconds and plugging it back in again

A full factory reset of a VSS will take anywhere between 20 minutes to six hours to complete and fully reconnect to the network.

Regards.
