Sure Signal v1 stopped working

Hi there,

My SS v1 has just stopped working, after months of uninterrupted service.  I have followed all of the steps in the troubleshooting thread.  The power light flashes continuously, without ever moving on to the next stage of setup.  I have tried deregistering and re-registering the SS too.

I have the same problem. I have spoken to Vodafone who say that this means it is faulty and the only solution is to buy a replacement at £100. Naturally I am reluctant to do this unless I have to, so am waiting to see what answers others come up to on this query.

That's pretty unsatisfactory, I agree.

Hopefully there will be some response soon to my post with some alternatives.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your posts.

@ jamesrobinson2 – If you’re still seeing the setup light sequence after 24 hours, it could indicate that the unit is faulty.

To rule this out, please can you test this with a different Ethernet cable and on a different internet connection?

@ mikekillingley – Can you also give this a go and let me know your serial number so I can check the registration?

James

I have already tried a second ethernet cable / second port on the router, so that can be ruled out.  I will try another broadband connection tomrrow.

Hi James. I've tried with a different cable, to no effect. Serial number is 21224700696. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your posts.

@ jamesrobinson2 – Let me know how you get on.

@ Shetlandpony – Can you also try this on a different internet connection at a friends or relatives house?

Once this is done, please post your results in your thread here.

@ mikekillingley – Are you still using Demon as your internet provider?

What light sequence are you seeing?

Can you deregister and re register the unit after one hour and let me know how you get on?

James

James

Yes, Demon is still my ISP. The only light is the top power one, and it is blinking. I've de-registered for an hour and re-registered just now. I haven't tried to reset it or anything, and at the moment the power light is blinking and no other lights are on.

Mike

My money is on vodafone borking our firmware up or making the network incompatible with the V1 so we have to shell out for a newer version of the device (V1 mysteriously stopped working here too).

and still it blinks...
