Sure Signal version 2 fails to load

olaflauder
4: Newbie

Currently, the Sure Signal is powered up and plugged in. The power light is blinking on the front, and on the back, the green light is flashing, and the orange light is steady.

There is an active Internet connection available.

The Sure Signal has a local IP address 192.168.0.212 allocated for MAC address 50:67:F0:72:83:23

If I do the 30-second reset, a few seconds after releasing the reset button, both lights on the front panel start flashing together and the power is steady. After approx. 20 minutes have elapsed, the left light only flashes. After another 20-30 minutes, the left light goes off and only the power light is blinking. And we're back to square one again. I've been here several times now!

HELP PLEASE!

Hi olaflauder,

Your rather precise symptoms of the light sequence isn't unlike the cycling effect which often occurs on the version 1 Sure Signal.

On the the version 1 this is always down to a degraded power supply .....  This could be your problem, but without substituting the power supply it is difficult to tell.

Your test results look fine so I don't see that there is a connection problem but it might be worthwhile just checking the Sure Signal registration on 'My Account ' to check it's still active and all is as it should be.

If you require a replacement power supply, they are readily available on Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 inc. delivery.

Regards,

Mike.

Thanks for the advice Mike, but I checked the Sure Signal registration which is OK, and I changed the power supply and still get the same symptoms and problem.

So I'm still looking for advice on the cause of my problem and a solution. Anyone?

I contacted Vodafone Chat yesterday and their Sure Signal 2nd-level support guy advised me to switch ethernet cable and do a power cycle plus 30-second reset. I did this but still have all the same symptoms and problem.

I'm now wating for Vodafone Sure Signal 3rd-level support to call me - I'll report back on what they advise and what happens.

@olaflauder – Everything you’ve posted looks fine and your Sure Signal’s showing as last connecting to our servers this morning.

Please try rebooting your router/modem as follows:

  1. Turn off your router or modem at the wall for 10 seconds and then turn it back on
  2. Wait for the lights on your modem/router to indicate that an internet connection has been established
  3. Press the reset button on the Sure Signal

If you’re still having problems after trying this, I recommend you test the Sure Signal at another location (a friend or family member’s for example). You’ll need to leave this connected for over 24 hours to make sure everything updates.

Thanks Jenny, I tried the router reboot / Sure Signal reset, but after 40-60 minutes, it's back to square one again - power (red) light flashing.

I'm waiting for Vodafone 3rd line to call me back (they should have called me by now!!), so I can't test the Sure Signal at a friend's house at the moment.

I'll wait to see what 3rd line come up with.

Latest update from Vodafone Sure Signal support people is that, on version 2, the red power light flashing means there is a hardware fault and the device needs to be replaced.

As my Sure Signal box is 4 years old and out of (2-year) warranty, they recommend I either buy the latest version of the Sure Signal from the Vodafone shop or Vodafone web-site, or buy one from a 3rd party (e.g. ebay).

@olaflauder

If it's out of warranty we're unable to replace it.
