Sure signal 3 problem

sbraynor
4: Newbie
My sure signal 3 hasn't been able to connect for about 2 weeks now. I have zero signal, so my phone is useless without the Suresignal.

The power light is on and solid, the internet light is flashing and never goes solid. I have done a factory reset. I have switched off and on, but no change. Until 2 weeks ago, it worked perfectly for almost a year.

Serial number is 40131572915.

What's the next thing I should try?

Hi HCFischerRM,

The light sequence you’re now seeing shows that the Sure Signal can’t authenticate on our servers.

I can see your device connected to our servers today at 3.12am.

Is everything now working for you?

If not, check to make sure that the following ports are open/forwarded on your new router:

Port Number

8          TCP      UDP

50         TCP      UDP

53         TCP      UDP

67                     UDP

68                     UDP

123                   UDP

500                   UDP

1723     TCP      UDP

4500                 UDP

33434 - 33445    UDP

If not, once they’ve been changed, factory reset the Sure Signal:

  • Find the button on the base of the unit next to the Ethernet ports
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around one hour

Thanks,

Andy

Hi Andy,

I have tried to open the ports as you have indicated and have re-set the sure signal but no change.  still showing the flashing red light and solid orange first light.   When I do the re-set it does temporarily show a sloid red light and white first light but then revert after a few minutes.

Any other thoughts please?

Hi samkendle,

The process for version 3 is:

  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button
  • Allow around one hour for the Sure Signal to come back online.

HCFischerRM - I'd recommend testing the Sure Signal at a different location, maybe around a friend’s house. This will help determine where the issue lies.

Thanks

Sukhi

I couldn't understand what's your problem. But this is nicely working for me.

I have a solid red power light and a flashing white internet light all others do not aluminate at all.

I started this thread as I had this problem. I managed to sort it, I think, by doing a factory reset, not just once, but 3 times in all. The first and second resets didn't work, but the third one did. I have no idea why it worked, but give it a try.

Hi samkendle,

This light sequence usually means that the Sure Signal is updating and usually comes back online in six hours.

Your Sure Signal hasn’t connected to our servers since 31 May so I’ve re-synced this for you today. Please complete this by performing a factory reset as follows:

  • Hold in the reset button until all the lights go solid
  • Pull the power lead out with the reset button still pushed in
  • Continue to hold down the reset button and reconnect the power lead
  • Wait for all of the lights to come on then release the reset button

The Sure Signal will now try to contact the network and download its profile. This may take anything up to six hours.

sbraynor – I’m pleased to see this is working again now. :Smiling:

Thanks,

Jenny

i believe the factory reset instruction are for the model previous.  i have a sure signal 3 so do not have a powerlead etc as it is attached to the wall and holding the reset down does not seem to light up the lights.

what is the process for factory reset of my unit please
