Sure Signal v2: Steady power light, flashing signal and phone lights

I have review a number of threads, however I have been unable to set up my VSS. I have tried various solutions posted on the forums over the last 8 weeks and finally have to admit defeat.

The two lights have been flashing for 12 hours on this occasion.

I have set up my account and registered my number, all appears OK. Based on previous threads the information required to investigate is noted below:

Speed test: ping 46ms, Download 9.11Mbps, Upload 0.88 Mbps

Ping Test: Ping 64ms, Jitter 2ms

My IP address is: 83.100.239.108

My VSS serial number is: 40120509662

I thought I would just do a final post to confirm one month on and the sure signal is working without issues.

Hi mattsmith,

Welcome to the eForum.

The light sequence you've posted would suggest that the Sure Signal is still setting itself up.

If it's still not working, could you reset your Sure Signal and then leave it to set up for twenty-four hours?

Also, have you got a different ethernet cable you can use at all?

Let us know how you get on.

Hello,

A reset of the sure signal, router and new cable had no effect.

So, I tried it at my mother-in-laws today (18/4/14) and this seems to have worked.

The power light and signal light were both steady.

Could you confirm the SS connected to the server at approx. 1:00pm on 18/4/14.

We both have the same ISP, so this would narrow down the issue to my router settings.

I have a Netgear N600, which I understand has issues with the SS, albeit I have updated to the latest firmware.

My next steps are likely to be use an old router to see if I can get a connection and use the SS to make calls. I'll then need to investigate port forwarding.

Accepting you cannot support router issues, any advice from yourselves or the wider community would be appriciated.

Matt

Hi mattsmith,

The Sure Signal last connected to the server yesterday at 1pm.

When it comes to the router support we can only give general advice, however I’d take a look at this page for help with forwarding the ports.

Thanks for the confirmation. All working at my end.
For e benefit of the rest of the community my educated guess at the issue and solution is;
Old sure signal with old firmware which was not compatible with my N600.
Connecting to a less sophisticated old router allowed the sure signal to connect to the Vodafone server. This allowed the firmware to update. It was up and running within an hour having beem flashing away for 4 days 2 hours earlier.
With an updated firmware the sure signal connected to the N600 without any issues. No port forwarding required or other settings needed to be adjusted. (Note: I had previously updated the N600 to the latest version)

So my advice for those with two flashing white lights on a sure signal V2 is to connect it to an older router.

Regards

Matt
