You will need to contact the person you puurchased it from and ask them to deregister it from their account. For security reasons this is the only way it can be done.
I've just received a response from the owner who is refusing to deregister and the device and has my cash firmly in his pocket. I'll go into the staff shop on Monday at HQ and get a new one and then raise a case on ebay.
