Sure signal needs resetting daily

Hi,

Sure signal works great when its working, but drops out and needs resetting on a daily basis.

I'm with Virginmedia cable broadband and have both a netgear modem/wi-fi routed through a cable modem as supplied.  The sure signal box sits on top of my pc base unit together with the virgin modems.

The ports on the modem appear to be open, I think Ive allocated a static IP to the modem, otherwise it would not work at all, is that right?

How do I set it up so that I don't have to keep resetting it everyday, sometimes twice a day?

Thanks

Freddie

Hi Freddieq,

Is there any pattern to when the Sure Signal goes down?

To avoid interference from other electrical devices and Wi-Fi, we generally suggest making sure that the Sure Signal box is sat as far from the computer and - in particular - the router as possible. It is possible that the magnetic field these create can cause the box to fail and therefore need to be reset, which would match the situation you're seeing.

If this doesn't resolve things, can you confirm your Sure Signal serial number for me and what the light sequence does on the box when it fails?

Dave

Thanks Dave,

I'll try relocating the sure sugnal away from the rest of the stuff and see how it goes.

I have almost the same problem, I moved the VSS3 into another part of the house and is on a 15m ethernet cable so as to avoid the chance of interferance. When it fails I often get Red flashing light and flashing white and sometimes amber internet light.

Hi stephjnw,

Your Sure Signal is fine, however the hops in your traceroute are too high as these should be below 200ms.

You’ll need to contact your internet provider to discuss this further.

Thanks,

Jenny
