Sure signal v2 new user

Hiya,

I received my sure signal on Friday and so far I am very impresse with it, I moved my wife over from o2 today (her number went live somethime today 06/02) and I added her to the system (Serial is 40120140195)

So far her signal has not improved, I have seen that other users have reported it can take time but can you check to see if I have added the secon number correctly.

Where we live we have a fluctuating 2g signal so right now I am getting alot of grief and she wishes I had not moved her from o2.

I am sure once she is on the system it will be fine........ (for my sanity I hope so)

Thanks

Re: Sure signal v2 new user

Hi earlyjester,

your rightwhen you say it can take time. You will probably find that the transfer hasn't actually completed yet. Its usually takes around 24 hours for the full network transfer to take place.

If the number has been enetered into the website and has saved correctly then it should be fine.

You may find switching the handset off for a few minutes and switching it on again will do the trick. Or likewise the same for the Sure Signal unit.  If you still have no joys then the best thing to do would be to sit tight for a couple of days. It will connect eventually.

Re: Sure signal v2 new user

Thanks Nabs,

I will give it time an beg her to be patient :smileysurprised:)

being the impatient soul that I am I unplugge the sure signal box and now it is not picking up my a network connection from my router.

Is there a more advanced manual for the box, I see people have use trace route etc should I be able to ssh/telnet in once it has a working ip aress again

Is the best way to gain a new ip, to power off and on or to unplug the network cable and back in again.

Thanks for your help so far.

Re: Sure signal v2 new user

earlyjester,

IF the Suresignal was working before you unplugged it then it will work again. Best thing to do it just leave it for an hour or so. If your still not getting anything follow the Troubleshooting Thread.

It might just be that it requires a reset(details in above thread) and a chance to redownload the profile.

Re: Sure signal v2 new user

Hiya,

It is very odd I am not getting an IP address for it anymore.

I have reset the router and the SS but to no avail.

What is the best way of forcing it onto the network, it used to get an IP, I am now in the situation where my phone thinks it has a great signal but calls do not happen. I am out for work today and I guess the good news is my wife cannot moan about the lack of signal in the house (well unless she calls me from the landline :smileysurprised:)

tonight my plan is

swap network cable

restart router (leave powered off for ten minutes)

reboot SS  (or full reset which is best?)

If it does not get an ip address is the box broken, is there anything vodafone can do or is it all a local issue as is not getting an ip from my homehub (which did work)

Thanks Andi (I really appreciate the advice I think I have 48 hours before I need to get my wife  an o2 sim and unlock this handset from vodafone an end up payinf for two contracts :smileysurprised:(

Re: Sure signal v2 new user

Are you able to assign it a static IP address on your router?

That may help force it to connect. Failing that try a different cable and if possible a different port on your router.

If none of those work then it could be that a fault has developed in the box.
