Suresignal V1 connecting but no 3G

Hi

re: Suresignal V1 s/n 21230021871

Now 4 years old, my suresignal did work when I bought it after much messing about with port forwarding etc (thanks to lots of online help!). After a year or so it stopped working and I lost patience trying to get it working again. Now I need to get it working as the vodafone signal where we live is getting worse and is mostly non-existant indoors.

Currently lights 1 & 2 are solid with light 4 flashing. After a while, all the lights go off, then light 1 comes on, light 2 flashes and eventually goes solid, then light 4 flashes. This process just keeps repeating. I think this means that it's connecting to your servers?

I have read the thread "read this before posting" and have done/checked the following:

Broadband speed checker: all ok

Planned maintenance: having been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now, so assume this is not an issue

Resetting suresignal: have done this many times, although the lights don't all go solid as indicated, they just cyle through 1-4?

Configure router firewall: done. Using Netgear DGND3300v2

PathPing 212.183.133.181: don't get any response, just says "0 No resources."

Please help! If I can't get the suresignal working, I'll need to change from vodafone so that I can get a signal at home

P.S. I had a very unhelpful "online chat" with Vodafone a few days ago in which the rep suggested that the life expectancy of a suresignal was 2 years hence the 2 year warranty. I found this unbelievable!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve

Look forward to your reply.

Hi stevewill,

Your IP address is fine.

The Sure Signal showed a location move from some time ago, which hadn't completed.

I've sorted this and pushed through a resync.

Please carry out a reset:

  1. Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
  2. Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead
  3. Once all lights display release the reset button
  4. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour

Thanks,

Ian

Thanks, will try this tonight and report back.

Steve

Hi

I did as requested yesterday evening. All 4 lights didn't light up together as suggested even after holding the reset button down for over 30 seconds. However, after about 20 seconds light 1, then 2 then 3 then 4 lit one after the other, then light 1 came back on. Is this correct?

The suresignal then displayed various patterns of lights for about 1 hour, then lights 1 & 2 came on for some time. Then for the last 24 hours the usual sequence of lights 1 and 2 on with 4 flashing, then all go off and it starts again. Light 4 has not been on permanently so I have no 3G signal :smileysad:

Regards,

Steve.

Hi stevewill,

Your Sure Signal is on the latest firmware. I can see our servers are trying to contact to it, however it keeps failing.

Please try a new Ethernet cable to see if this helps. I'd also try it at an alternative location, so we can rule out a fault with the device itself.

Thanks,

Kay

Hi

I have tried a different ethernet cable and left that connected at home for 12 hours or so, no different. It has now been plugged in at work for a 24hrs+ and it won't connect there either.

Any further suggestions?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

With all of the tests that have been done, it sound like the Vodafone Sure Signal is faulty.

If the device is under 24 months old, you can send it for repair.

Please see the repair process here.

If it’s older than 24 months old you can look at purchasing a new Sure Signal here.

Cheers,

Laura

This is disappointing as not only has it had very little use as it failed to connect initially some time ago, it has no moving parts and has spent it's life sat on a shelf!

Not so Suresignal :smileysad:
